Game 5 of the NBA's Eastern Conference finals drew a 5.3 national rating.

The combination of Games 1, 2 and 3 have made this the highest-rated and most-watched opening games of the Stanley Cup finals since Detroit faced Carolina in 2002.

The rating for Wednesday night's game represented an 87-percent increase over last year's Game 3 between Anaheim and Ottawa.

I'm not sure how, or if, they figure in those CBC numbers. I would think not, but who knows. An the game last night wasn't on Versus? It was on NBC.
It wasn't on both?

I'm glad to know its available! Hopefully it will be coming to Dish soon. I think they finally got their new satellite up cause they added about 20 HD channels in the last few weeks.

Dish Network has has VS HD for a long time...I think at least the entire hockey season!

Posting this in CW thread, too, but BIG rumor swirling around Hwood is Dawn Ostroff out at CW (finally) and Tony DiSanto form MTV in.

Does anyone know how well the new episode of Farmer Wants a Wife did. Presumably it did better then 2.5mil, since that's what CW's average was for the night. If I were the CW I would pick that show up for next summer, as those are better numbers than almost all their other reality shows, other than ANTM.

Although I'm not a big believer in rumors, I hope so. Changing leadership is the only way CW will survive. Is Tony DiSanto responsible for bringing the likes of The Hills and all their other reality hits to MTV?

Is she completely gone, or did she just move back to CBS? Hopefully its the former.

For a person with Sports Fan in their screen name - you don't really seem to like sports all that much.

If you don't get the game I suppose it appears random, which accounts for it's unpopularity. It helps to have played, in order to follow the action, which really accounts for it's unpopularity since you need a sheet of ice and a shitload of cash to play.

Just because they are still skating & "hitting" a puck around does not mean that the "Action" is still going on. There are long period of time that nothing really happens in Hockey, even though the play is continuing.

But I do agree it is far better than basketball. The sport is just too boring now.
When I watch a football or basketball game, I see players in control of the ball and players working logically to defend against the score. When I watch hockey, for the most part, I see random 'action'. Hockey is a sport where one team rarely spends more than 15 seconds 'controlling' the puck. Even 5 seconds of control is a stretch most of the time. It is a game that is about 95% random happenstance, which is why most people do not find it interesting enough to watch.

The ratings are similar for both, the real question is, which one will make more money? - the obvious answer is The Office. Reality rarely ever has any off-network value

Ummm, what was the Office's season averages?

I love the show, but it is NOT yet a HIT.
Season 4 averaged 8.55 million viewers. I don't know the demo average, but I think it would be over 4.0. I love the show too, but I wouldn't classify it as a mainstream hit. It is, however, a very successful demo show with respectable overall numbers despite being in the toughest timeslot on TV. I don't see how anyone can make a legit claim that "Dance" is a bigger hit in any way, shape, or form. Its overall viewership is barely better despite far weaker competition, and its demo numbers are considerably lower. Neither show is a true hit, but if either can be considered a hit in any way, it's The Office.

Marc, I'm not usually one to complain, but is it possible to give the breakdowns, in hours, by Farmer Wants a Wife?

It's just like According to Jim and Most Outrageous Moments, you just give an average for the 2 hours. I was just curious to see the comparison between the original and repeat.

plz... The NHL is way better than other sports especially football. Like the game is just so damn boring and without the good comericial during the superbowl ratings would drop like anything

Not necessarily true. Several reality shows are in syndication. Most recently, Nanny 911 and Trading Spouses joined CMT. Plus, reality has the ability to throw in tons and tons of product placement, sometimes so much the shows are profitable before they even air or are sold (saw a presentation on reality television- it was about how it was bad but it still gave the specifics on how it is a money maker). As for the Office, I would argue DVD sales will be a massive money maker, perhaps more than syndication in the long run because the show repeats downright terribly and I don't think it will last long on TBS.

Whoops, you're right - totally missed that. I only glanced at those numbers and thought they were Saturday's. I wonder how the first two games did in Detroit on CBET. I know the station shows up on overnight rating reports in Detroit - a decade or so ago, a Stanley Cup Final game featuring Detroit did a big number on CBET/CBC (with the game also airing on ESPN.)

I'm not sure how, or if, they figure in those CBC numbers. I would think not, but who knows. An the game last night wasn't on Versus? It was on NBC.
