LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The most popular zip code on television is back.
The CW network is developing a contemporary spinoff of Aaron Spelling's seminal 1990s teen soap "Beverly Hills, 90210," sources said.
Details on the project -- including which if any of the characters on the original series will make the transition to the spinoff -- remain sketchy.
The spinoff, which is close to getting a writer, has been put on the fast track by the network. It is expected to decide whether to order a pilot by the end of the month.
According to sources, "Beverly Hills, 90210" creator Darren Star is not involved.
This would be the second spinoff from the series about privileged teens living in Beverly Hills, which aired on Fox from 1990-2000. The first one, the Star-created "Melrose Place," had a successful seven-year run on Fox. It didn't feature any major characters from "Beverly Hills."
A teen soap set in posh Beverly Hills would be a perfect companion to the CW's buzzworthy freshman drama "Gossip Girl," which revolves around rich teens living in Manhattan.
Spinoffs are hot this development season. Fox is developing two: "Cleveland," centered on the henpecked character from the hit animated comedy "Family Guy," and a "Prison Break" offshoot set at a female prison.

I don't think it is about 'bad acting' so much as it is about cranking out 5 shows per week on a tiny budget. Some of those CSI shows (David Carruso) have huge budgets and only churn out one show every week, yet they still look like they are reading directly from cue cards.
CSI: Miami is the worse. Even great actors would look bad on that show.
If you are looking for different actors for CSI Miami just watch CSI NY or CSI Original. Same shows. Different actors. Oh yes... also different background shots that really have nothing to do with the story and are irrevelent.

90210? I was a huge fan back in the day but towards the end (the last 3 or so seasons) it no longer had it's magic. Why would they think several years later anyone would be interested?
If I had to pick I would much rather see a MP spin off. What's Heather L doing these days??? That would be AWESOME!!
They have GG/OTH finally paired up that's teen/young adult night. But then again, this is the demo they want right? Why not try to re-do a Full House/ Family Matters / Fresh Prince kinda feel (teens, family, comedy, drama etc) wrapped into one..
Are any of the original characters going to be in it?
If not, it's a remake--like the new versions of Battlestar Galactica and Dr. Who. It's only a spinoff if a character introduced in an earlier show is in it.

I take it you don't watch these shows, otherwise you would know and see the difference.
Plus, the subject wasn't about "Different" it was about the quality of acting on CSI: Miami
I fully agree with TV-aholic. I can forgive the bad acting on CSI Miami, but that in combined with really dumb story lines and awful ongoing soapy sagas worse than the crap they used to write on Passions made this show unwatchable and it's an insult to compare it to the original.

It's all made worse by the spastic editing. It's like they decide to try out all the new tricks they learned in class that week.

All of the CSI's:
Show starts, we learn of a crime, a murder. CSIs come to the scene, look at the evidence. They investigate for about 45 minutes (of TV time). We get to see fancy camera work with closeups inside a body. Then crime is solved. Show over.

I love CSIM's editing, and obviously 15 million viewers like it too

As I said, same exact shows, different actors.
According to AL, Sherlock Holmes=Poirot=Encyclopedia Brown=Shawn Spencer=Adrian Monk=etc.
Main character is presented with seemingly impossible mystery, uses skills of observation to collect clues, and solves crime.
Yay! I never have to read another mystery novel because I read one Agatha Christie book. I can move on to reading romance novels, because they are all so unique and have no formula...
If you reduce them enough, most stories will have the same elements.

Sorry to be so anal about it, but dem's da rules.
I would love to see Shannon Dorhety come back, but that will never happen. They could probably get Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling though.
