Very true, but the contestant who goes last is also at a disadvantage. I don't think poor David A would have choked last night if he hadn't had to wait around forever to sing. Like a rookie place kicker who gets iced by the opposing team's t/o just before he's about to kick the winning field goal with 0:03 left on the game clock.

Jericho: Why did CBS schedule it for the death slot? They must want to capitalize on how well their shows repeat by keeping them in their time slots.

BB: I've never liked the winner, and after last night's episode, this season may be no exception. I hope Alex was voted back in.

NO! Please do not do that. I for one would like to be surprised tonight but I do hope it turns out to be Allison or Amanda.

Allison! Amanda! Why? Wouldn't Parker be a more enjoyable person. Those two drive me insane, especially Allison who is one jealous woman.

I think Sayesha, Kristy, and maybe David H. are in the bottom three, and Sayesha leaves us tonight. Too bad. I think Ramielle lasts a few more weeks. The cute factor.

My early picks for the final four are: David A., Carly, Brooke, and . . . and . . . ? Amanda maybe? David Cook?

I think this is a good point. Last week many were surprised that asiah epperson was sent home and she happened to be first. i wonder if that means that sayesha is in trouble tonight. Usually, we think that the first and last slot is the best to have because people will remember it more, but since we know the ratings keep going up maybe first is not good to have.

I would give Primetime: WWYD an honorable mention Marc.

Rationale: it improved over the worst lead-in on ABC's schedule by 3-4 million viewers, by over a full point in the demo, built on its own prior week numbers by over a million viewers and over half a point in the demo, and beat other original fare by a substantial margin. Its numbers would also put it in the top 5 of ABC shows in both viewers and the demo for the week.

Numbers aside for a moment.

I watched Primetime last night, and this once proud hard-news program has devolved into a salacious version of Candid Camera. Is Primetime the new Dateline?

I expect better from ABC News.

Here's Primetime's half hour by half hour results of last week:
10:00 ABC 4.4/7 2.2/6 6,302,000
10:30 ABC 4.6/8 2.3/7 6,515,000
Not what I would call consistent.
And I mind you before we go into this whole ordeal over demo, that BL skews to the rich and that trumps 18-49 any day.

I like BL too, but looking at their ratings objectively, I come to the conclusion tha Primetime: WWYD is performing significantly better.

According to its weekly ratings trend, BL hasn't come close to a 2.8 in the demo since DWTS has stopped being its lead-in in November -- the best it's done with Carpoolers as a lead-in this year was a 2.2 in January, and before that a 2.5 in December. And even with DWTS feeding it viewers, it's only reached or passed a 2.8 three times this season. See below. So, yeah, in my view Primetime: WWYD deserves an honorable mention.

ABC does what it needs to in order to get ratings I guess. That sort of trash has helped Dateline the past few years and even earned them a nice lawsuit.

If you can't control your emotions you don't go to a such show. Being last is a HUGE advantage. I've only seen bits of AI last night, but clearly Archuleta is the one that should go. When you make such mistakes you have to pay.

It's no surprise that the first person to sing is also in the bottom if not the one eliminated. According to dialidol.com -- Syesha (who sang first) is in the bottom, along with Hernandez and Mulabay -- who all deserve better. Votefortheworst.com is voting for Amanda Overmyer.

As for Jericho, I think they don't want fans to dictate what gets cancelled -- they can feel confident in not bringing back any show over fan outrage by putting it in the death slot. There is no reason, with so many slots available, that they couldn't have tried the wed at 8p slot where it succeeded. CBS will of course say they want everything to succeed, but there is a difference in giving it the best chance possible.

True, many Americans can't read. Still a 25-50% increase is only 1 or 2 million viewers nationally. I think that it would be a very realistic goal for Univision to gain that many viewers with subtitling. I'm guessing that their concern is that their current viewers might resent it.

So now the question. We all know Jericho filmed two variations of the final episode which will air in two weeks. Do they show the ending with a final conclusion to wrap everything up. OR, do they show the episode that was intended to be shown if their was going to be a 3rd season? I think it's very possible that someone like the Sci Fi network could pick it up with some success, but that will be down the road. Does Jericho take that chance and possibly alienate the fans that helped them get back on for season 2 by possibly never airing a 3rd season and not resolving storylines just in hopes that someone picks it up?

Yes, CLEARLY if you saw only bits of AI last night you would see that Archuleta is still one of the best around.

Well, I didn't watch all of it, but the portion I watched would hardly be called salacious, imo. It's more appropriately a psychological study of how people respond in different situations. The segment I watched was whether about people would help out a person that seemed obviously troubled, if not distressed. The incredible thing is that many did not, even though they had just finished a seminar on "good samaritans." This is hardly "To Catch A Predator" territory.

If they want to milk more money out of the 'nut' crowd, they should air the season finale, then put the series finale on a DVD release shortly afterwards. If they want to be realistic about their renewal chances, they should just air the series finale version. If, by some miracle, they get renewed on Sci-Fi or some such cable outlet, they can always go the route of Sledge Hammer and pretend that the end never happened. Wink
