I still think Woods will win (even if it's only in order to mantain the perfect 3rd round lead streak) but Mediate is fantastic

Who would have thought, NBC is open to more than 10 million homes...or homes that watch other things than Law & Order.

Excellent numbers for NBC...for what, the first time in 4 years? Big Grin

A sudden death playoff seems very likely right now on the 18th...

This is some of the most exciting golf I've ever seen... and after 90 U.S. Open holes, the match continues...

According to Nielsen’s program-based “Fast National” ratings, ABC’s 2008 NBA
Finals Game 5 soared over its primetime competitors to qualify as Sunday night’s
No. 1 TV program in Total Viewers (17.3 million) and across each of the key
adult demographics: A18-34 (7.2 rating), A18-49 (7.2 rating) and A25-54 (7.4
rating). It was the 5th consecutive broadcast for the 2008 Finals to rank as
the evening’s No. 1 television show in viewers and all key adults. The Los
Angeles Lakers won Game 5 by a score of 103-98, making Boston’s advantage in the
best-of-seven-game series 3-2 and forcing a Game 6 on Tuesday (6/17/08).

* The highest-rated game of 2008 in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, Game 5
topped all Finals games during the past 2 years (2007 & 2006) to represent the
strongest NBA contest since Game 7 of 2005 (6/23/05). In addition, it was the
biggest non-series-clinching NBA Finals contests in 4 years – since Game 4 of
the 2004 Finals on 6/13/04. Game 5 also stands as TV’s highest-rated program
telecast this summer with young adults (AD18-34/AD18-49) – television’s highest
telecast since the season finale of “American Idol” on 5/21/08.

* On average, the five games the 2008 NBA Finals jumped by 56% in Total Viewers
(14.5 million vs. 9.3 million) and by 61% in Adults 18-49 (5.9/18 vs. 3.7/12)
over the average for the 4-game 2007 Championship Series. In viewers and young
adults, it’s the strongest performance for the NBA Finals Series since 2004 and
the second-highest overall in the 6 years that ABC has covered the Finals. ABC
began airing the NBA Finals in 2003.

Now This is a funny statement.

Personally, NONE of these shows should have been renewed, but AIA was clearly the WEAKEST show on the network, let alone on sunday nights.

1. I doubt Aliens in America will still be on top when finals come out.

2. Aliens in America was the strongest of the freshman shows that CW didn't bring back.

3. Aliens in America had more potential going into next year than EHC or The Game.

4. I don't expect EHC or The Game to last past next year.

I already posted the same response earlier in this thread today. And we should all know the answer by now. What network was the Tony Awards on? Yes, CBS. That is all we need to know.

Re: Early morning playoff versus prime time playoff:

Don't forget: the PGA has a tournament next week that is already starting up. Media and officials can't hang out at Torrey Pines for the rest of the week just for the heck of it. They do the early morning playoff when necessary so that everybody can fly out tonight. If they waited until prime time to do it, it'd set back everybody a day.

Oh come on, almost nobody really cares about Travelers Championships, let alone the media. And let's not forget majors have ended on monday eveneing beacuase of bad weather before.

Today's playoff would've scored big in prime time (although if played at different hour the outcome wouldnt've been the same)

So what? Do you think the PGA will be able to negotiate a bigger contract based on an 18-hole Tiger playoff that might not recur for years, if ever? It's not like airing the playoffs tonight would've added revenue to NBC as they've already sold the primetime spots. There is no business reason to care about when the playoff aired.

So, since there's no business reason to air at night, what's the big deal?
