What they should have done is put it on in prime time tonight. Start the coverage at 7 and go until 11. The ratings would have been great. With the golf being played in the west coast not sure why they did not take that option.
That would have been great! And it would easily outscore their regular lineup.
That's USGA's policy: morning playoff. Not sure why
Even though I am a big JK fan, I doubt ABC is happy with a half hour of primetime getting only a 1.0 demo rating and 3 million viewers.
At best, JK Live MAY get a bump of a few 100K in viewers, if the translate over to a 12am-1am time slot.
IIRC, JK Live gets a HIGHER demo rating in it late night slot.

Golf Fans, even casual Tiger Fans, will find a way to watch the 18 hole playoff today.
Perhaps ESPN wont reach 4 million (I forgot NBC would have the back 9 holes), but it will be a BIG number for the net on a weekday afternoon.

Despite a starting time of 12 noon today, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Playoff Round between Tiger and Rocco get at least 4-5 million on ESPN.
I doubt it. Maybe the NBC coverage of the back nine might get bigger numbers, but with most people at work and the winner already known the numbers aren't going to be big. Even last night's numbers (we'll have to wait for the finals) are disappointing

But what did ABC average in the slot last year prior to the start of the game? And as the alternative, would you prefer AtoJ to air before the pre-game show?

Does anyone really think Woods will lose to Mediate. BTW he's up by 2 after 7 holes
Marc, how in the world is Jimmy Kimmel a loser when according to your data, he had 8 million and over a 3 in the demo! Other places have him that high too. What is going on?

Yeah, how lame is it for a major sporting event to continue into the next day like this! That would be like NFL or NBA playing overtime the day after the champtionship game. I really enjoyed it yesterday, but I'm not gonna take off work to watch it. They should have sudden death like the Masters!
I actually prefer the 18 hole playoff. Plus, since I have a day off today and missed the whole all of Saturday & Sunday play, now I get to see the championship round.
As we have seen with the previous 4 games, the over nights & fast nationals are way off from the Finals. JK will enup with about 3 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, about what he has been averaging so far.

The question is why does Kimmel get labeled a loser while the Tony Awards does not. Jimmy had higher viewer total and a higher demo.
I mean, come on, the Tonys had a 1.1 demo rating. How is that not a loser? Ahh yes, it was on CBS. Now I get it...
Since I don't watch the NBA game, what is on before it doesn't effect me. But I would bet that ANYTHING else would do better.
But, having said that, if Jimmy Kimmel Live can build on its numbers during its regular time slot, then it may be worth it to ABC to take a hit for a half hour before each game to build JKL's audience.
