Hmmmm. It seems that based on the opinions of this board that many of the shows should end their runs next year (if not sooner). Ugly Betty, The Office,
Well I love The Office and last night's ep was great! I think it usually has less viewers than Earl, but better demo numbers.
Oh and Kristin at E is reporting there will be 24 eps next season including 4 hour long eps.
New Smallville series low. Hey, Marc, do you think Smallville could get another times lot too? I think is time again. Tuesday, now that Gilmore Girls is gone? Monday? or Sunday, too?

As for The Office (Big Fan Here), if it continues with Sub 10 million viewers, It may be time to close shop. It will have peaked and not much chance of any growth.
If it were a 2.5 Men and drawing 13-15 million, but had peaked, then it has leges for more seasons. But when you average about 8 million. 4 seasons, unfortunately, may be enough.

Ugly Betty, The Office, October Road.... and I'm sure we'll soon hear more about the demise of CSI and Grey's because there are only so many storylines for them too (yawn).... Except of course for 5th Grader, which will run 10 plus seasons.
The concept is not limited at all, at least it wasn't in the original telenovela, which had almost 200 episodes. ABC tried to americanize the concept so it would fit in the american soap opera type. My opinion : it doesn't work. I'm still asking myself why they eliminated all the funny characters from the original telenovela.
Chances are The CW will leave it where it is despite the erosion. But even if it did move, I'm not sure the ratings would increase.

If The Office were a drama, 8 million would be cause to wrap it up, but with the state of TV comedy these days, 8 million is an ok number. I think the one hour episodes next season are a mistake and I still think that NBC would be better off at least trying to devlop some comedy offerings that 'the masses' might want to watch. However, 8 million for a comedy, especially on low rated NBC, is not a bad number. I'd certainly keep The Office over 30 Rock and Scrubs.
I really dont think abc is going to waste this time slot on October road next fall, not with so many promising pilots in the wings. My guess is that the time slot will go to either Football wives or Dirty Sexy Money.

But the better CBS move might be to place a hot new series Thursday at 10 PM ET/PT to take advantage of a weakening "E R" and a not-terribly-strong "October Road"

Were the "Without A Trace" numbers higher last night than they are on Sunday? If so, is there any chance that CBS will move it back to Thursdays and maybe move Shark to Sundays? I really prefer WAT on Thursdays.
Suvivor may be down year-to-year, but it is one of the few shows that has maintained its audience from the winter.
Back during the February Sweeps, it was averaging about 13.5 million viewers. Last night it got 13.6. It's numbers are very consistant, week-to-week.

Survivor has been really good this season. The show hasn't declined in its presentation, but I think that the TV audience is changing. With shows like Idol, 5th Grader, DoND, people seem to want reality Tv that doesn't require any analysis/thinking. I don't think that Survivro could adapt to that without destroying what makes the show work to begin with.
That's good to hear actually. I especially enjoyed last nights episode. I think the new twists with the hidden idols and exile island have added some fresh twists to the show without going to extreme.

Season low for Betty and 5th Grader. CSI and Grey's not even close to 20 million. NBC's shows once again way down. What's happening??????/
Take a look outside your window. See the nice weather? People are outside enjoying that. Ratings drop substantially every single April and May as winter end, then build through the fall leading to the January/February peak. It's been like this ever since I started looking at the ratings (10 years ago) and this year is no exception.
U should check last year's May numbers. Maybe u don't remember well. This time last year CSI was at 27 million viewers and Grey's at 23 Also u should check Lost's numbers, DH's numbers, Law and Order's numbers etc. I don't think thsi May is sunnier than last year's May
Compare the May average to the season average for new episodes. The drops are similar this season and last. It happens every single year.
They probably would Marc - I know that i stopped watching just due to such a competitive slot. I figured I can't be alone here... It's always been a well done show.

That plus the diverse castaways, and a few "smarter" players.
This season started a little slow, but since the merger, it has been the best seasons I have watched (Since Rupert's Debut).
Originally posted by kimends: Ok, what the heck Supernatural! The first part of the season finale gets under 3 million viewers? I don't get it. Seriously.
I don't know how much this affected the ratings last night or not, but there were some people that I heard of who were thinking of DVRing/taping this week's episode to watch next Thursday, before part two, as they didn't want to deal with any cliffhangers.
That being said: it is too bad. It was a wonderful episode.

U're wrong again. Here are some examples from the 8-14 May week of 2006: Grey's Anatomy season HH average was 14.23, on the 8-14 May week it had 14.4. So UP CSI season 15.68/ 8-14 week 17.9. So UP Withou a Trace season 12.38. 8-14 May 13.0. So UP And the list could continue.
