Biggest Loser has held its own against American Idol. Its audience remains loyal and I'm sure has a lot of longevity in it. I'm sure NBC is impressed with the performance.

Which actors? Joshua Jackson is till better suited for 90210 and the actress seems Blake Lively's sister
That may not be a bad idea. Mondays will look completely different next fall, so FOX does need an established show to anchor the night, if possible.

And are you kidding me? Hugh Laurie does 400000 per episode? That's wrong.
And Charlie Sheen getting over 800k per ep is okay? He's only one of the two and a half protagonists in that show.
There IS no House without House. Laurie carries the entire show on his shoulders. Every single episode has lots and lots of House in it--which means he won't be able to stand up under the shooting schedule indefinitely. He knows he's going to have to quit sooner or later. Might as well make his pile now.
Sure, James Arness did Gunsmoke for 20 years, but the majority of the later episodes only had a few minutes of Matt Dillon, because they wrote it like an anthology show revolving around a central repertory cast. They had "Heavy Matt", "Medium Matt" and Light Matt" episodes--actually called them that.
The pilot of Fringe was horrible, yesterday was better but i still have the feeling this is a bad X-Files rip-off. It's just to similar IMO. What the heck? CSI's spinoffs have less in common with the original CSI than Fringe has with X-Files. The only thing missing so far are the aliens
And the supernatural stuff, of which we saw a lot on The X-Files, but probably won't see here, because they want to try and justify everything scientifically (or pseudo-scientifically, anyhow).
You have no idea how many X-Files ripoffs premiered before The X-Files did.
Come on, you really think yesterday's episode was scientifically explained? The same thing used to happen on X-Files, pseudo scientifically explainations given by Scully of course
And i don't know where you see those character dynamics. Mulder/Scully dynamic was much more interesting, well mainly during the first seasons

I agree. I haven't seen amazing acting in the show yet. Jennifer Garner would rock some of those scenes. I'm not saying the actors aren't up to par, they're good. But I still wish they'd cast someone other than Jackson.

Lance Reddick, John Noble, Blair Brown, to name a few. Anna Torv isn't too bad either.

Sheesh, he was too old for that show when he was doing Dawson's Creek.

She and Jackson are both doing very good work, IMO--but I was primarily referring to Lance Reddick and John Noble. This is not a two lead show, like The X-Files.
And btw, in the early days of The X-Files, even most fans talked about what limited actors Duchovny & Anderson were. And in retrospect, I guess they were--and are--but they were right for the roles at the time.
They have nothing that they could simply shove in come November save for Reaper and and it has been noted time and time again that they are looking at Reaper as a replacement for Smallville on Thursdays. Please feel free to name scripted programming the network has waiting in the wings otherwise for midseason.

If you looked at CW development board, CW has multiple options that would do better.

Should Dollhouse catch on, then they would have two shows to hold their own in the fall that could then share 8pm once 24 returned.

FOX will not give House the post idol spot. It is a 5 year old show. They can't milk the cow on that show anymore. Fringe is the NEW big thing on FOX it will get the post i am almost 100% sure on that. But now that it is getting 14 million viewers i would maybe Try to put Dollhouse after idol to give it a fair chance to grow.
I agree. I haven't seen amazing acting in the show yet.
I don't remember anyone here talking about 'amazing acting'. Sheesh, you expect amazing acting on FOX? Why not bold innovative economic policies from John McCain?

You mean like she did in "Elektra"?
Garner got a rep she never earned, because Alias was so good in the first season. But as the scripts got bad, so did she. She's got no range at all.

A lot of people are saying that, but they're still watching the show.

Multiple options? Such as what? CW has Reaper coming back midseason and it should build on last year's numbers the way Gossip Girl has, but that still won't peg it as a better option than Priviledged so far. CW has Stylista coming to Wednesdays starting around sweeps and Stylista was picked by advertisers to outperform 90210. Still, it is a show that already has a place on the Fall schedule. So, what is hiding in CW's cupboard that could do better than Priviledged?
I agree. The Biggest Loser opened strong last winter more for the fact that Idol was the only original thing against it and for the fact that it had just came off of a very successful fall run where ratings grew the entire season.
