CW has a pilot for a legal show to air next Fall: Wrecking Ball.

Sounds more like a prophecy of CW's future than a pilot.

The CW is a waste of time. They should get rid of the whole network. The network did so much better when it was the WB. Shows like Buffy, Charmed, etc. did so much better than this current crop of shows they have on.

I'm kinda upset that Law and Order: SVU's #s were lower last night but I'm hoping that they'll bump up when finals come in. However, next week's episode should be pretty high with Robin Williams guest starring.

Average Viewers:
Reaper - 2.73
Gossip Girl - 2.61

Once again, Dawn Ostroff and the CW suits don't care about total viewership numbers. They care only about the 18-34 demo and the teen demo. Check out the final ratings that Travis Yanan posts for new eps. He regularly includes the 18-34 demo for CW shows. Gossip Girl consistently outscores Reaper in those demos by over a full point. When it aired new eps on Thursdays, Reaper scored from 0.8 to 1.0 in the 18-34 demo. That's typical for Reaper. Gossip Girl's latest new episode scored a 2.1 in the 18-34 demo; that's also very consistent with its season average. That's why Gossip Girl was renewed for a full season ASAP. As far as Dawn is concerned, Gossip Girl's ratings are much higher than Reaper's. They're much higher than Supernatural's ratings, and they even inch out Smallville's. The 18-34 demo is all that matters to Dawn and to the CW. It's why Gossip Girl is her precious baby.

Today's precious baby can easily become tomorrow's unwanted child.

Just look at how easily Ms. Ostroff turned a cold shoulder to her former it girl, Veronica Mars, a series that grew in viewers and A18-49 season-to-season.

It's hard to have a precious baby or an it girl when one of your shareholders second guesses your decisions.

It must be very refreshing for Mr. Rob Thomas to be dealing with three series under consideration at ABC where he has been embraced by Mr. McPherson, a gentleman of honour, who is not caught up in the corporate intrigues that beset the very top of The CW.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Wrecking Ball is not going forward with the CW. I wouldn't expect it Fall 2008.

If they don't renew it then its personal agenda against one of their own shows:-) (Just proofs that this network is just beyond stupid). to renew GG with the same viewership and cancel Reaper is just. Well i have no word for it it is that brainless

It's too early to call Shark. We need to wait until the original episodes air to see how well it will do in its new timeslot. My guess is that it will do better than WMC Tuesdays 10 PM. Unless it tanks hard, it will be back.

The CW has cancelled the pilot order on "Wrecking Ball."

Now all they have is Gossip Girl 2.0, Gossip Girl 3.0, Grey's Anatomy 2.0, and a pair of sure-to-be-winners reality shows.

Unfortunately, Wrecking Ball was the only CW project I was remotely interested in.

Oh well, now I can get away from the sinking ship even quicker. Smiler

I used to watch that show when it first started and liked it, but I have not seen it in a longtime.

Peace!

Not really (though I would like to see Reaper renewed, because I do like it). But what we all have to remember is that shows that have similar viewer totals don't generate the same amount of ad revenue.

Unforumately Gossip Girls, often doubles the young adult demo that reaper gets. This typical equals more ad revenue (since that is what the network has geared itself to).

Its one of the reasons that Supernatural has always been questionable about getting renewed since it doesn't hit that young demo group nearly as hard as shows that get lower viewer totals.

How much does Reaper cost to make per episode and how much does Gossip Girl cost to make per episode? Anyone know?

Why is NBC airing Most Outrageous Moments on Tuesday? It is Friday fare and if its repeat numbers are any indication, would do very well there.
