Penn isn't horrible, but he isn't very audience friendly. The excitement doesn't flow out of him (to us) as well as some other game show hosts. I heard many complaints about him yesterday and (so far) today.

Sorry, but I have to repeat my question. Where are you hearing these "many complaints"?
Do you **really** have some sort of "Complain Here About a TV Show" booth/kiosk set up somewhere?
(Or is it more like during hall patrol duty, or the exercise yard,or what? )

Just wanted to throw out an idea for relocating "What About Brian." It really seems like more of an 8 PM type of show to me, but with the ratings as low as they are, I really don't see ABC using it to start off any halfway-important night. For that matter, I don't see them throwing it into a 9/10 slot on any other night with a solid lead-in either, because it would be seen as "wasting" a good lead-in show.
At this point, I think they should move it to Saturdays to fill the gap college football's end will leave. We all know that the networks punt on Saturdays, airing repeats and throwaway crap. But as Marc and others have said on this very board, the night used to be one of the most popular on television. The night can still draw viewers IF they actually air decent programming...
So I say move it to 8 on Saturdays, and follow it with the movie that's currently slated for 8. It's not like the ratings can get much worse. Throw it on the night with the weakest competition and see if it can find some traction there. Mondays at 10 sure isn't working!

If ABC moved What About Brian to Saturday, I personally would watch. I wish they had the guts to do it.

"Guts?" ABC sells Adults 18-49. There aren't enough A 18-49 PUT levels on Saturdays. A scripted hour wouldn't even make up its license fee there. There may be a word for a move like that, but it wouldn't be "guts".

"Guts" has nothing to do with it. It makes no business sense to put an expensive show on Saturday.

I think ABC still has other options on Saturdays. Some have suggested trying the NBA on Saturdays. Also, I believe ABC bought the second half of the Nascar package that was previously NBC's domain. There are always a few night races a year in both series (Nextel - Busch). Nascar might be amenable to moving a few more races to the evening.
Neither of these suggestions are 'earth shattering' by nature. However, sports do bring advertisers with them. In addition, ABC’s sport’s programming is now handled thru ESPN, so there would be little additional production cost associated with extra sports programming.
ABC Sat. Night becomes ESPN 29 (or whatever number is next )
I agree that ABC should turn Saturday into Sports night. The NBA is an option, although I know it won't draw near the audience of other sporting events. Nascar is a good idea. Personally, I'd like to see them go after a college basketball game of the week. It would be more entertaining than the NBA. Too bad CBS has the rights to most of the College ball games on Saturday.
