I read in TV Guide that NBC is considering cancelling Medium and CBS is interested to pick it up. Do you think CBS would put that Fridays at 9:00 p.m. in place of Close to Home if this piece is in fact true?
Does CBS NEED to pick up another networks rejects? I know they did well with JAG, but they were in a completely different situation back then.
I think they need to move Medium back to Monday's ASAP. I read in TV Guide that NBC is considering cancelling Medium and CBS is interested to pick it up. Do you think CBS would put that Fridays at 9:00 p.m. in place of Close to Home if this piece is in fact true?
If NBC has any interest in getting a decent rating at 10 pm on Mondays they would move Medium back to that slot. But since that has been obvious since November, I'm not sure that anyone there is smart enough or interested enough to do so.
Isn't CBS one of the producers of Medium? It might do well as the perfect conceptual link between Ghost Whisperer and Numbers.
It seems to me that all of the networks have a major conflict when programming against American Idol. They all want to skew for that younger audience. This is why Jericho was the perfect show. Up against American Idol though it seems that the whole 18-49 audience bounces over to Idol. I'm not sure that there's any counterprogramming that will work against the Idol juggernaut. NCIS does well, but it also tends to skew towards the over 40 crowd. It has to be a real dilemna for the networks. The only shows that are in any way successful against Idol and shows that shew older than the desired demographic.
American Idol - Tues 12.1 FOX
American Idol - Wed 11.8 FOX
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader-Tu 11.2 FOX
Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader-W 9.8 FOX
Heroes 6.4 NBC
Lost 5.7 ABC
Two and a Half Men 5.5 CBS
CSI: Miami 5.5 CBS
Deal or No Deal - Mon 4.9 NBC
Rules of Engagement 4.8 CBS
24 4.8 FOX

I dont know about you, but I am getting tired of hearing from these so called Lost "fans" and bashers that dont have anything worthwhile to say, except to bitch and complain. How about doing a favor to the rest of the people who actually enjoy Lost and not watch it, change the channel. I know many people have already done this, I say good for you, more for us to love.
Lost is the greatest show in the history of Television! In fact, it is the greatest in all media (movies, theater ect.) It even protects us from meteors.

Yep - I believe "Medium" is from CBS/Paramount. At the conclusion of this season, it will have roughly 60 episodes under its belt. Another season of episodes would make the show more attractive for syndication/cable sales. Lifetime probably already has options to buy any further seasons. I'm sure it would do at least as well as "Close to Home" does on Fridays. So CBS picking it up could make some sense.
Originally posted by pisher: Again, Lost blows the flashback. But the episode as a whole was entertaining enough, if you stop yourself from thinking about what a good episode USED to be. Which apparently an awful lot of people are unable to do.
How was last nights episode any more pointless than a Hurley or Charlie episode in season one? I remember being bored to death with their flashbacks in season. I found this flashback more tolerable. People have become way too critical of this show.
But, NCIS still grabs a 3.7 (this week) in the demo against AI.
Back on November 14, 2006 NCIS had a 4.2 in the demo. And that was up against The Dancing With the Stars finale.
The Followin Tuesday, NCIS pulled a 4.3 vs The AMA's 4.7 in the demo.

I DVRed 5th Grader last night and then watched it, fast forwarding through everything but the questions and answers. It took less than five minutes. For the record, exactly 6 questions.
Travis did a fine job while you were gone. Except, He was charging $100.00 for every request for every 1/2 hour breakdown. I think he can now retire in a few years just on the CW requests.

If you don't care, then why do you keep checking the ratings? Reminds me of how some of the die-hard Letterman fans used to obsess over the ratings, infuriated that Leno was ahead in viewers. My (unsolicted) advice for you is the same as it was for them: the show is not in danger of being cancelled, so just enjoy it, and don't be so worried about what other people watch or think.

Then why do you keep coming back? Wow, this sharp stick I poked in my eye really hurts! Let's see if it hurts if I try it again. Yep, still hurts. Maybe if I try it again...

Yep, it's frustrating to have to tolerate opinions that differ from your own. How much more interesting life would be if we all thought the same way. Sounds like some of us need some re-Neducation. Hooray for everything!

Lost: now a consumable resource!

CORRECTION: FOX Triumphs in the A18-49 Demo for the February Sweeps; CBS Wins Households
In my haste to post, I overlooked a serious Excel error in calculating households, and I didn't see it until after I had posted.
My apologies to CBS and FOX. CBS indeed won in households, and FOX triumphed in A18-49. I have corrected my original posting, and am now issuing an errata to adjoin Zedman2's response posting. Sorry Zedman2.
When I next analyze sweeps, I promise to do so with old-fashioned paper and calculator.
FOX has emerged as the A18-49 demo champ for the February Sweeps. After 28 days in A18-49 measures, the rankings are:
1. FOX 5.2 (+2% vs 5.1 in 2006) 2. CBS 4.9 (+41% vs 3.5 in 2006) 3. ABC 3.8 (-28% vs 5.3 in 2006) 4. NBC 2.9 (-42% vs 4.9 in 2006) 5. The CW 1.3 (-11% vs 1.4 WB in 2006, +18% vs 1.1 UPN in 2006)
CBS triumphed in households with the ranking as follows:
1. CBS 9.3 (+28% vs 7.3 in 2006) 2. FOX 7.5 (+4% over 7.2 in 2006) 3. ABC 6.6 (-23% vs 8.6 in 2006) 4. NBC 5.5 (-43% vs 9.6 in 2006) 5. The CW 2.1 (-5% vs 2.2 WB in 2006, +17% vs 1.8 UPN in 2006)
After 28 days of the February Sweeps, the best affiliate lead-ins at 10:30/9:30 pm on the Adults 18-49 demographic are:
1. FOX 5.4 2. CBS 4.0 3. ABC 3.8 4. NBC 3.1 5. The CW 1.2

In the end, those American Idol hours helped FOX to triumph in households over the February Sweeps as well, with the ranking as follows:
1. FOX 10.1 (+40% over 7.2 in 2006) 2. CBS 9.6 (+32% vs 7.3 in 2006) 3. ABC 9.0 (+5% vs 8.6 in 2006) 4. NBC 6.5 (-32% vs 9.6 in 2006) 5. The CW 2.1 (-5% vs 2.2 WB in 2006, +17% vs 1.8 UPN in 2006)

CBS, which benefited from airing the Super Bowl during the sweep, will finish on top in adults 25-54 in February for the first time since 1998. Eye will also prevail in total viewers -- its 12th such victory in the last 14 major sweep periods.
If Fox defeats CBS, it will be only the second time in recent years that the network that aired the Super Bowl has not won sweeps. The last time was in 2002, when NBC won with the Olympics.
