Men in trees would just do better if it had a better lead in -- but someone at abc really hates the show.
Do advertisers actually believe that the Summer 2009 schedule won't change dramatically by the time we get to 2009? It just seems pointless to issue a schedule that everyone knows will change.
NBC has DOND twice a week in it's new schedule- they might be overdoing it (especially since it's going into syndication), but it still does reasonably well..
I have a feeling next Wednesday's BB is going to be a shock double eviction ep because of the timeframe we have left...plus they want to do something against Idol Gives Back...
and speaking of Idol Gives back...40 million or so maybe? (for what is probably a non-elimination week like last year)...

They could tell us the meaning of life and it wouldn't help oppositve American Idol...

Heck, they could show hardcore porn, and not only would no one watch, no one would bother to file a complaint with the FCC....

Ratings for CM and CSI: NY aren't impressive, but CSI: NY is just a little under it's season average and right around where it was last year at this time. CM took a bigger hit compared to it's season ratings, but up against Idol, that's not a surprise.
It will be interesting to see what happens when both CSI: NY and L&O are showing originals.
i think criminal minds will go up once that hideous lead-in is gone...criminal minds has had poor lead-ins all season long...im not just talking about weak ratings/demos...im talking about totally different audiences...
once big brother goes away the price is right will only aid criminal minds in stronger ratings/demos....especially with abc keeping an absolutely horrible schedule...also, nbc will also slide as DOND seems to be slipping and L&o wont be able to hold up to new csi:ny's...not with new criminal minds leading into it...

I think mushu's point was that CSI:NY's numbers weren't that impressive because it faced a repeat of L&O and a fading Men in Trees. American Idol is not on at 10pm.
Mushu called CM's results against AI as solid (which I agree with.)

Idol gives back didn't score huge last year on April 25.
FOX 8:00PM AMERICAN IDOL-WED 15.6/25 (household), 26.93 (viewers), 10.2/27 (adults 18-49), 11.4/28 (adults 25-54) Final numbers
And it will be another non-elimination edition, as FOX scheduled a 1-hour live results show for Thursday @ 8/9c. And the star power attending the fundraiser this year is as big as it was last year.

Maybe it helped the Monday shows that they were the very first new stuff out of the gate. I don't know.
I credit part of it to Chuck's absence. (Not that Chuck was a powerhouse, but it was a bit stronger than My Dad is Better than Yours.) But, I also wonder if the viewers have just become really hungry for the three-camera sitcoms. (It also helps that all four of the CBS sitcoms are good shows.)

I bet it drops to about 2 million viewers next week.

When a network hates a show, and the show (face it) is anything but a critic's darling, or an award-winner, and the ratings are mediocre with a good lead-in, and downright awful with a poor lead-in--that show doesn't run 31 episodes (and still going). It just does not happen. ABC has no problem with MIT. It has been incredibly patient with it. The fact is, there just isn't enough of an audience for it.
Personally, I don't think it's bad--it's just--missable. Eminently missable. I've already seen Northern Exposure. And I missed a lot of that show too.

I think the release of the 2009 Summer schedule is part of NBC's smoke and mirrors plan to define themselves as a 'industry leader'. The advertisers won't believe that the schedule is set in stone, but if they can be tricked into believing that NBC is thinking at all, then NBC has a better shot of lifting their wallets.
