-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS was the most-watched network on this mundane summer Sunday, while NBC was first among adults 18-49. But under a 2-rating in the demo means there is, no doubt, very little to say.
CBS’ 60 Minutes opened the evening first in the 7 p.m. hour in total viewers (9.30 million) and second among adults 18-49, with a 1.4 rating/5 share in the demo. That led into the also older-skewing Million Dollar Password at 8.55 million viewers (#2) and a 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 8 p.m., followed by back-to-back repeats of Cold Case as follows:
Cold Case R (CBS)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.72 million (#1), A18-49: 1.4/ 4 (#4)
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.39 million (#2), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#3)
NBC kicked-off Sunday with U.S. Olympic Trials: Track and Swimming at a disappointing 5.51 million viewers (#2) and a 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#1t) from 7-9 p.m., followed by a two-hour edition of Dateline at a dominant 7.47 million viewers and a 2.2/ 6 in the demo from 9-11 p.m. Take a look at the breakdown of Dateline, which grew in every half-hour:
Dateline (NBC)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.56 million (#2), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#2t)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 6.79 million (#1), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#1)
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 8.01 million (#1), A18-49: 2.4/ 7 (#1)
10:30 p.m. Viewers: 8.54 million (#1), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#1)
Next was ABC with its encore combination of Wipeout (Viewers: #2, 4.99 million; A18-49: #1, 1.7/ 6), a two-hour edition of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Viewers: #3, 5.60 million; A18-49: #2, 1.8/ 6 from 8-10 p.m.) and Desperate Housewives (Viewers: #3, 3.19 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3), which never plays well in non-originals.
Repeat theatrical Jurassic Park 2 averaged a mere 4.15 million viewers (#4) and a 1.5/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3t) from 7-10 p.m. on Fox. And the CW capped off this lackluster Sunday with repeats of One Tree Hill (Viewers: 817,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1), Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: 978,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1), Aliens in America (Viewers: 922,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1), The Game (Viewers: 949,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1) and Girlfriends (Viewers: 962,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1). The CW, of course, finished last in every half hour.
