quote: Well the great Knocked Up made 148 million -- the movie she kinda dissed.
Good for her--and c'mon. NOBODY goes to see those movies because of the girl. Did you see Katherine Heigl on the posters for that movie? quote: her NEXT movie was 27 dresses and that mad 76 here and 76 overseas so 152 total and that was totally on her shoulders.
If you can give credit to Heigl for Knocked Up, don't you think a little might go to James Marsden for 27 Dresses? You know why female stars make less than male stars? Most guys will go see a movie with just guys--most gals will not go see a movie with no hunks to drool over. It's a reality I don't like, but it's reality all the same. quote: Both of those did better than sideways
Actually, neither was as profitable as Sideways, in relation to budget. quote: I think they are getting rid of IZZIE -- which I don't understand why everyone hates -- being that I am just a casual viewer, so i can't judge.
And I'm an EX-viewer, so I don't CARE. Heigl's salary demands can probably be met, but if not, they can easily get to S7 without her. And that means ABC is delighted with Greys. Or that networks can renew former megahits with gradually falling ratings for years, just because they ARE former megahits. quote: by the way, everyone should go see WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS -- a hilarious hilarious movie...
Thank you, Richard Roeper.

quote: Yeah, but how many stars can open two movies at above 75 million
Not Heigl, because they could have picked any number of other actresses to play Judd Apatow's latest victim, and Knocked Up would have done just as well. quote: -- so many stars can't make the transition. I'm not gonna say she's gonna continue to be huge but she's done well for herself.
Hey, compared to most actors, she was doing well for herself when she was in Under Siege 2. quote: Rachel McAdams took an ill=advised break after working non-stop. She's got a small movie -- called Married Life that is out in smaller markets and not sure when her next big movie is. She's a star.
Yeah, but c'mon--not a big star. Heigl is not a big star. They can't demand huge paychecks. They aren't Julia Roberts. I don't like her movies, but there's a reason she can get pretty much any role she wants, and name her own price. Heigl is one flop away from being a has-been. McAdams obviously couldn't take the pressure. Most people can't. And even Julia Roberts is a wimp compared to the likes of Davis, Crawford, and Stanwyck. Just don't make grande dames like they used to.

The only actor who can open a movie right now is Will Smith. The only one.
Heigl might have a future in movies as a romantic comedies lead, and i repeat "might". But she must be "crazy" if she is thinking of lesving GA. There is no gurantee she'll have big success in movies.

Yeah, I am still trying to figure out how Worst Week fits in. It is single camera. I just don't see how it fits with other CBS sitcoms. quote: Originally posted by filmkr27: Wow surprised Single White Millionaire with Fred Savage was canned.
Is it not possible for other networks to pick up pilots that other networks pass on -- why doesn't that happen more often?

quote: The CW would be stupid not to renew Reaper
And is it your contention that the CW has done nothing in the past two seasons that would indicate it might in fact be stupid? I'm not sure if they should renew Reaper or not. I don't care. The only CW-related cancellation that matters is the impending cancellation of CW itself. And when I say 'impending' I really mean 'pending', because they've just effectively canceled themselves on Sunday night.

You and mushu_jj are good. Both of you got Tower's diagnosis correct. Looks like it isn't ready and they are waiting a bit on it. Hopefully CBS gives it a greenlight later as I think it would work for CBS. I'm also shocked that the Journal project isn't even getting held back. It was the most buzzed comedy for a while on CBS. quote: Originally posted by Holly: Update on CBS via Nikki Finkequote: UPDATED: I'm told that the comedy Single White Millionaire (WBTV) has been killed. The Tower (CBS Paramount) isn't dead, but also isn't on the schedule. Its fate might be decided in a few weeks. The comedy Worst Week (Universal Media Studios) is picked up. The drama NY-LON (ABC TV Studios/Beacon) is dead. Also, the Ed Yeager/Rick Swartzlander comedy pilot that's been picked up to series and stars Jay Mohr (I love this guy) is now called Project Gary.
Nothing on The Secret Journal of Mike Whats-His-Name that was getting so much notice before.

You might be right. Unfortunately. Oh well, at least it isn't Shia LaBeouf. Yet. quote: Heigl might have a future in movies as a romantic comedies lead, and i repeat "might". But she must be "crazy" if she is thinking of lesving GA. There is no gurantee she'll have big success in movies.
Well, there never is. I wouldn't blame her for leaving Greys. I wouldn't blame Greys for letting her leave, either. At this point, her character is a liability to the show. She wasn't in the beginning, and it's mainly the writer's fault that she is now, but that's the way it is. The only reason to keep her on, in fact, is that her movies might bring in new viewers. How many years ago did George Clooney leave ER? It was sometime during the Pleistocene, if I recall correctly.

You don't think their new pact with MRC for the new Sunday lineup might come up with something? Sure it's a long shot, but hey, they can't really drop much lower in them there ratings.

If it's not their programming, it's not their ratings. It might be a good deal for them financially in the short term, but a network that can't stay afloat with its own programming can't stay afloat. What's going to happen is that CW will do even worse on the other nights next year, in no small part because this is going to even further destroy their brandname. Honestly, the very name of the network itself is becoming a synonym for LAME.

You are so negative. Truthfully, the WB and UPN should never have merged, the WB was doing just fine , ratings wise anyways. quote: Originally posted by pisher: quote: The CW would be stupid not to renew Reaper

The rumor isn't confirm BUT it is 100% TRUE that it is moving to another night, as I know because The CW handed over its SUNDAY NIGHT PROGRAMMING to 'Media Rights Capital,' which will aim the CW's Sunday Night Prog. to Adults 18-49 demographic then The Game has been renewed for 22 episodes, EHC has been picked up for next season (2 months ago). I think their Sunday night plan is a whole lot more useful as a method to grow the network than if they were airing Friday (or Sunday) Night movies.
