I'm dying to see their ratings. Net reactions I have read are positive compared to how awful I think it is. I much prefer Moonlight but I have a suspicion that this one might get better ratings.
New Amsterdam was much better than Moonlight. The only weak part of the New Amsterdam premiere was the non-police procedure following nature of the crime solve. The character background was intriguing...and nothing like the Highlander series, BTW.

It really confounds me, however, how somebody could see SCC as an improvement.
Both shows are 'high concept', and in both cases, the concept in question has been done many times before, and better.
Both shows feature fancy visuals with no real substance behind them.
Both shows feature pretty vacuous people speaking pretty vacuous lines with no real conviction.
And neither show will last very long, renewal or no renewal. In both cases, hopes for renewal rest on the after-effects of the strike.
However, I'll be really interested if people who are always down on FOX for canceling its (deservedly) low-rated genre shows too soon suddenly start urging FOX to cancel New Amsterdam right away.

I've jus watched the pilot of SCC so based on the 2 pilots i would vote in favour of SCC

I soooo wanted to like New Amsterdam, but tuned out after 5 minutes. It was a very odd opening, and unless you knew the story ahead of time, you could hardly tell what it was about. Great concept, bad writing and sub-par acting.
IF it comes down to be between that and SCC (and I personally don't think NA will play a role as to whether SCC gets renewed or not), I'd go with SCC. But new development such as Fringe and Dollhouse are better than both of them...
I kept them listed in their total Live +7 Viewers.

You got all that in ONLY 5 minutes of viewing, including the opening credits? Doesn't seem like long enough time to know anything about a new series, good or bad.
