I loved last week's OR. Haven't seen last night's yet but will here soon. I think the show really has potential written all over it yet but its too late and not near enough audience would carry over to the CW to make it feasible to do.

I don't think the CW would want it anyway, all the characters are too old.

Characters age isn't the deal there, its the stories they tell. And honestly, October Road tells a story that is in the upper range of the CW desired demo. It would fit. But I don't think it has a place given its current performance.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but how could lying to the media about production costs help him get a renewal? Critics & viewers might read an interview, but the people making renewal decisions already know the numbers, they're paying the bills.

I think it is very possible. I think a lot of those viewers that watched Smackdown will tune in to it on MyNetwork. Plus I think a lot of people will tune into that new Flavor Flav comedy. Plus doesny MyNetwork not have as many nights of programming as The CW?

ABC's spin about Monday -- according to this, October Road had its best ratings since it premiered on Mondays in November, which I believe was with DWTS as a lead-in...

quote:
"20/20: The Royal Family" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC News' "20/20: The Royal Family" dominated its 2-hour time period, beating its nearest competition by 5.2 million viewers (14.2 million vs. 9.0 million NBC's "My Dad is Better than Your Dad"/"Deal Or No Deal") and by 19% among Adults 18-49 (3.7/9 vs. 3.1/8 Fox's season finale of "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles"). On both counts, ABC delivered its strongest numbers in the time slot since November since 11/26/07, the night of the fall finale for "Dancing with the Stars." Anchored by Barbara Walters, the ABC News program offered a never-before-seen glimpse at the most famous royalty in the world the royal family of Great Britain.

"20/20: The Royal Family" stood as Monday's No. 1 TV program in Total Viewers (14.2 million), Adults 18-49 (3.7/9) and Adults 25-54 (4.6/10).

"20/20" attracted the ABC newsmagazine's biggest audience in more than 5 years since 2/6/03, the night of the Michael Jackson interview.

"October Road" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC's "October Road" was up from its most recent telecast two weeks ago (2/18/08) by 1.0 million viewers (5.3 million vs. 4.4 million) and by 19% in Adults 18-49 (1.9/5 vs. 1.6/4). In fact, "October Road" drew the series' biggest audience since its season premiere on the night in November since 11/26/07.

October Road's lead in that day was Grey's (Thanksgiving) and the next episode its lead in was SW and NFTU. October Road never had DWTS as a lead in, just Dance Wars once. I think OR did pretty well considering last week it was preempted and there was hardily any advertisement for last nights episode. On those terms should ABC renew it? Probably not, but it is cheap, does well on iTunes and could make a good filler for off season programming or Friday and Saturday nights.

It also looks like it went up in the finals in the demo, per Travis above -- a 2.0 vs a 1.9...

Yeah, not really the ratings for a renewal on ABC, but I still think that CW should consider it for its lineup.

I would love to see it on the CW paired with OTH.

I don't think CW should embrace the "one man's trash is another's treasure" philosophy. What the CW needs to do is seriously invest to create an identity of it's own. Picking up a show that has been a failure on another network will not only be a failure for CW but exacerbate the problem it already has. No identity.

I don't think so.

And they're miles away from the #5 network, Univision.
