-Adults 18-49:

-Yesterday’s Losers:

----------

Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 27 percent at this same point last year to approximately 33 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
Fox aired baseball, CBS bunted with repeats of CSI and The Mentalist, and ABC managed to finish first in both total viewers and adults 18-49, with its fifth consecutive weekly win in the demo. CBS ranked second in total viewers and third among adults 18-49, while Fox was just the opposite. NBC finished a distant fourth, followed by below-average The CW.

The game five match-up between The New York Yankees and The Los Angeles Angels (Angels: 7, Yankees: 6) averaged an approximate 10.34 million viewers and a 3.3 rating/9 share among adults 18-49 for the primetime portion. Comparably, game two of Philadelphia versus Tampa Bay in The World Series one year earlier averaged a stronger 12.78 million viewers and a 4.0/11 in the demo (on Oct. 23, 2008), but that was The World Series. As always, keep in mind that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

ABC’s FlashForward seems to have now respectably settled in, with 9.82 million viewers and a 3.0/ 9 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. -- third in both categories. Next was Grey’s Anatomy at a dominant 14.67 million viewers and a 5.2/14 in the demo at 9 p.m., followed by spin-off Private Practice (Viewers: #3, 9.98 million; A18-49: #2, 3.7/10) with retention of 65 percent in total viewers and 66 percent among adults 18-49 out of the second-half of Grey’s. Not too shabby.

Over at CBS, still healthy Survivor: Samoa won the 8 p.m. anchor hour with 12.88 million viewers and a 4.0/11 among adults 18-49. What a heartbreaking episode last night! Opposite baseball, CBS aired repeats of CSI (Viewers: #2, 10.00 million; A18-49: #4, 2.1/ 6 and The Mentalist (Viewers: #1, 11.33 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 8) from 9-11 p.m. Although NBC was banking on The Jay Leno Show picking up steam opposite repeats, Leno still finished last at 10 p.m. with a mere 4.95 million viewers and a 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49. Worth noting for The Mentalist encore was growth out of the second half of repeat lead-in CSI (Viewers: 9.73 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 5 at 9:30 p.m.) of 1.60 million viewers and 29 percent among adults 18-49.

NBC had nothing unusual to report with its combination of low-rated Community (Viewers: #4, 5.18 million; A18-49: #4, 1.9/ 6) and Parks and Recreation (Viewers: #4, 4.98 million; A18-49: #4, 2.1/ 6), The Office (Viewers: #4, 8.52 million; A18-49: #2, 4.2/11) and 30 Rock (Viewers: #4, 6.68 million; A18-49: #2, 3.2/ 8), and aforementioned dud The Jay Leno Show (Viewers: #4, 4.95 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 5). The “winner,” of course, was The Office with growth out of Parks and Recreation of a significant 3.54 million viewers and 100 percent in the demo.

The CW capped off the evening with repeats of The Vampire Diaries (Viewers: #5, 2.31 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 3) and Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 1.85 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 2).

Considering there was baseball, everything did fine especially Grey's Anatomy and Survivor and FlashForward did good too.

The Mentalist and Vampire Diaries did well in repeats especially The Mentalist which beat CSI and a new episode of Private Practice in viewers. I still think they should flip CSI with The Mentalist when they next go into repeats.

As I always say, there is plenty of room for good TV options in one night.

Well, I wouldn't say that. Considering that the repeats beat new eps of MP in both viewership and the A18-49 demo...

I was hoping to get some suggestions from you guys:
I am nearing the end of season 7 of The West Wing and I will need to find a new series to buy the boxsets of to replace it. I am looking for Drama's that you need a slightly decent IQ to watch (Like West Wing) that is entertaining but not too soapy (I watch enough teen dramas and family dramas already). Any suggestions?

Thanks

I'm not a huge fan of Grey's, but it was a very good episode last nite. They showed that they can actually write good medical drama without romance.
Also, I thought The Office was great last nite. Jenna Fischer was a real match for Steve Carrell. It was a different aspect of Pam and Michael's relationship from what we saw last season when she left DM to work for him. I thought Jim's reaction was great, too. And I love having the Jim/Dwight antics back. Another entertaining episode!

I was wondering something....has anyone seen the preview for Fear Clinic that is going to run all next week on Fearnet? The question I have is this...how are webisodes counted? Is it based on the number of hits the shows get that determine how popular it is or will be?

And also, since they are remaking Nightmare on Elm Street, why did they replace Robert Englund as Freddy Kruger? Not a smart move. But then again, why are the studios remaking a lot of movies from the 1980s? I don't get it. From Clash of the Titains, to Red Dawn, to Nightmare on Elm Street, and others, it seems to me that studios are trying to take the easy way out. Or no offense, but the writers are out of original ideas.

A 1.9 for Community? Eeker NBC has killed this series moving it to 8 PM. Parks and Recration isn't doing much better. If they want to keep Community around, they need to switch 30 Rock and Community.

Is that Survivors highest number this season? I am guessing maybe it picked up a few Bones viewers

Very interesting how CSI has gotten higher ratings than The Mentalist every week this season for new shows, but in repeats TM got much higher than CSI at a 2.7 to 2.1.

Even though the numbers for 30 Rock aren't the best, I used to think that 30 Rock was propped uo by being a bridge between The Office and ER. But, it's clearly carved out its own audience seeing as how The Jay Leno Show's numbers are so low. People aren't tuning out of 30 Rock like they're tuning out of Jay.

I would like to see 30 Rock and Parks & Rec switched, though.

Is Flash Forward any good? I want to get into it, but I've watched 3 episodes already and it's just so monotenous. I don't feel like the story is being furthered at all. I'm probably still going to watch though.
