I am wondering what they are going to do with them now.
Actually, I would call Smallville a win for the CW
No way. Smallville averaged 4.16 million last year and now 2.52? That can only make the show a loser. Smallville stopped to have goods ratings and good stories after season three. It's really time to call it quits.

Do you honestly think comparing a show on Thursday to one on Friday is fair? Look at Ugly Betty, it seems to have dropped roughly the same percentage of Viewers from it's thursday nights slot.
I am guessing you can put any show on Friday an it will most likely lose 30-40 percentage of it's viewership.
The point is that Friday Night programming is primarily occupied by losers. It's where networks send shows to die.
Marc was right to put all of the shows he did in the Losers column. ABC, FOX and The CW have lousy programming on Fridays.
FOX is taking some action before sweeps to relieve the misery of their affiliates. ABC and the CW are likely to stay with their bad schedules and get increasingly lousy ratings for the whole season.

What a waste of money. I wonder if they will wait until next Spring when other shows go into reruns.

I'm beginning to wonder if the broadcast networks will keep programming first-run scripted fare on Fridays for much longer.
I fear that just like the nets abandoned first-run fare on Saturdays a few years back, owing to more people going out, they may be about to do the same thing on Fridays.
Once Fox burns-off "Dollhouse", I'd expect their Fridays to be all-reruns all year long.
FOX had some success with Smarter than a Fifth grader and Price is Right was okay for CBS, Deal or No Deal got solid numbers at first so even though I support scripted programming generally, I think FOX should try a game show for Friday night. With the tough economy, shows about winning money pretty quickly and easily could be big draws, especially for people who can't afford to go out on Friday nights any longer.

*I agree that "Smallville" is probably doing as well as could realistically be expected of it. This is a series that is currently in its ninth season and has been shunted off to a night that the CW has not performed well on, absent "WWE Smackdown!". While there is no arguing that the viewership for "Smallville" is lower than it was last year, it is also not fair to compare the ratings for episodes aired on Thursday vs. Friday. Same thing for NBC's "Law & Order: SVU". It aired on Tuesdays last season and on Wednesdays this season. Of course the viewership is going to suffer, that rings true for almost any series (especially a long-running one) that moves to a new day and time. With all these caveats, it really is like comparing apples and oranges.
*I'm sure no one is surprised that Fox has ditched its Friday programming for reruns of "House" and "Bones" during November. Like most people on here, I am puzzled why Fox bothers to keep "'til Death" around, even if producer Sony made it cheaper for Fox to buy. This series has probably spent more time on hiatus than on air the past two seasons. Why not just cancel it and save even more money? The least Fox could do is move it to Sundays at 7:30 and pair it up with "Brothers" on that new day. At this rate, the few viewers that "'til Death" does have may have to wait for the DVD release to actually see those produced episodes.
*The networks seem to have forgotten how to program Fridays. Granted, like the situation on Saturdays, the viewing habits of Americans have changed since the glory days of CBS Friday staples "Dukes of Hazzard" and "Dallas" in the 1980s. I have always said that if you give viewers a reason to tune in, they will. Most of the networks seem to have given viewers the impression that they are throwing in the towel on Fridays by what they program (i.e. reality and past their prime series on ABC; "filler" and low rated sci-fi on Fox). While the ratings may be down or far from spectacular (one shouldn't expect Thursday size ratings for Friday series), at least CBS is still airing scripted fare on the night (I would expect nothing less from the network that was the last to surrender Saturdays to reruns); and NBC deserves some credit for airing a scripted series too - even if they did ax the second planned scripted series ("Southland").
Supernanny never does well on Friday nights and neither has Wife Sawp. They never average no more than 5-6 million viewers. They do much better on Mondays or Wednesdays. They usded to draw anywhere between 8-10 million a week. ABC needs to retool Friday completely and keep WS and SN away from it.
Maybe to help premiere a new show on Fridays at 9 ABC should air some type of DWTS special on at 8. Not just a recap but new footage with the stars! Maybe just wait for the results unti Fri a week or two. If I remember correctly DWTS on Fri used to draw around 12-14 million. I say just to help a new show. Fri and Sat nights are never gonna become ratings winners if all the networks program are failing dramas and reality shows.
I would love for FOX to show til death some love. At least a better time slot. Maybe the post idol slot again for a week just so people rember this show is on. I completely forgot and I'm sure most others did as well. It's always in the worst timeslot with NO promotion!

I think in the case of the CW you have to compare it to the rest of the week(for the CW) in general as opposed to being on the same playing field as everybody else.
The best show on the CW(Vampire Diares) would be considered a loser if it got the ratings it did on any other network, but in terms of the CW it's a huge success.
And in the case of Smallville, while the ratings are not anything to brag about, in comparison to the rest of the weeks lineup it's holding it's own(which when you consider the crappy timeslot it was given has to be worth something)

While it appeared to be channeling some other recent cable hits, nothing wrong with that if it can carve out its own turf. I thought the chemistry between the two leads was great and it struck a good balance between serious and offbeat. Having meaningful situations going on with their wives adds a good dimension as well. I'd give it about an 8/10. Nicely filmed, very well produced.
Agreed, I definately enjoyed White Collar. It did seem to be channeling some Burn Notice and Psych at first but it carved out its own identity. I loved the things with their wives and Kate, gives it another dimension. I loved the cast and I was glad to see others in there that I recognized but weren't in the promos ( Like Marsha Thompson and Sharif Atkins )
It was just very nicely done, very entertaining, and had some great emotional moments.
Plus, the fact that it didn't get overshadowed by Sharona on Monk ( Which was excellent IMO, and thankfully alluded that Sharona will be back for the finale ) was a good thing. I still can't believe we got almost half an hour of uninterrupted WC. I highly recommend White Collar.
Pretty decent ratings for Law and Order. It has grow from it's beginning of 1.2 in the demo but I hope it still can grow more. Dateline did very, very well. I believe The Jay Leno Show had Hilary Swank on and Michelle Obama will be on Monday.
Nice numbers over for CBS. Odd that just when they found a strong bridge between GW and Numbers which can carry it's own ratings, the other shows are dropping a little from last year.
Is there anything more to say about ABC, FOX, or the CW?
I really enjoyed both "White Collar" and "Monk" with Sharona. I really hope they bring Sharona back for the finale.
White Collar was very entertaining, there's great chemistry between the two leads that makes for a fun buddy cop vibe. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough Mark Sheppard.
