Can't believe 'Til Death is being put on hiatus again...there is around 20 episodes that have been filmed and not aired. Around 9 from lasts season and over half of the 4th season has been filmed. (season 4 was ordered for a full 22 episodes!!)

Medium is checking in with good, not great, but relatable episodes. Although you have to consider the difficulties of the nite, I maintain it can still do much better. I would begin promoting this seperately as well. The GW connection has been established. The summer promos hit a wall because it was a fairly dead rerun summer, with few exceptions. Wean it away from GW in peoples' minds. The GW viewers will be there.
I personally loved last night's Medium episode. It's those quirky episodes of the show that have always been fan favorites, and I think this one may become one of them. CBS really needs to step it up with the promos this week - this Halloween episode next week should be able to rake in viewers who don't normally watch the show or haven't watched in awhile. Considering people love this stuff for Halloween, it should be able to hit at least 9 million viewers, same goes for Ghost Whisperer.
When I saw the ep centering around a baby, I said "good ratings tonite." My favorite this year was ep 2, where Ariel channeled the dead woman Elena. It was a classic Medium stemwinder. The only sausage they have aired was that ep a few weeks ago with the doctor who was knocking off patients and then skipped off to Atlanta with an inconclusive ending.

I'd seriously like to see how any other CW show would perform on Friday nights in Smallville's slot. Put Gossip Girl, 90210, or any of Dawn Ostroff's "favorites" (aside from the Vampire Diaries) on Fridays at 8 and they'd probably be lower in overall ratings AND key demos.
Also being paired with a Top Model repeat is ridiculous, so it's not like the show can rely on anything it's paired with.
All things considered, I think Smallville is doing pretty well. Don't know why its numbers are being compared to last year, when it was on a much better, familiar night.
I'm a huge fan of the show and I've only seen 2 out of 5 episodes this season live. People have better things to do on Friday nights now.
Marc, what is Smallville doing on the list of losers? It outperformed every other scripted series on the CW for the week and also did well in the A18-49 demo. Not to mention, it actually beat some of the competition.
Also, could you possibly post the half-hour breakdowns?

I've only been able to see one episode live so far, and I know I won't be able to watch next week's live either.
It seems like Marc is being incredibly unfair with his judgement towards Smallville. Of course it isn't going to do as well as it did last year! Anyone could figure that one out, including Dawn Ostroff--and she acknowledged such in interviews.

No thoughts about the show because I still have to watch it.
However, whenever Monk/White Collar's ratings are announced, I'm guessing that they are much higher than FOX's Friday ratings and also above ABC's Friday ratings. If that isn't a red flag to FOX and ABC that they have to program their Fridays better, I don't know what is.

I'm not expecting huge numbers for Collar largely because of fri and 'tis not the season for cable originals, also the premise may have been a bit murky to the casual viewer, but I do expect a ratings build whatever the numbers start out as. This show may take some time to take hold but it is no dud, I'm certain of that.

The list of pathetic on Friday nights continues to grow.
FOX: Why they ever ordered more Til Death I will never understand. They made the right decision to pull their dismal programming for sweeps, but I haven't heard any news that they have anything better planned for the slots in the Spring. I remember when the Xfiles were must see tv on Friday nights. I rearranged my schedule to stay home to watch it. I bet some FOX execs dream of recapturing those glory days but Til Death isn't going to get them there ever.
ABC is trying to spin SuperNanny's numbers? They are shameless. It's too bad that Ugly Betty is being put out to die on Fridays, but that's definitely what is happening. I hope the producers make plans to end it on a fun note for the fans.
CW is another failure. Smallville is down hugely from last year. And I'm sure the female demos will again be the lowest for the CW this week. The combination of a ANTM repeat and Smallville doesn't work. If this is the best The CW can do, they should give up programming this night all together.
I give CBS an A- for programming this night, NBC a B and the rest all get F's.
FOX would love to recapture some of that magic on Fridays. In my opinion, FOX Fridays fell apart when they cancelled Fastlane. That was the last show to really work on Fridays and if they could have found a way to cut the costs on the show, it could have ran for seasons.

Why does everyone keep focusing on Smallville being down year-to-year? You guys do realize it was moved to Friday night?

Because Sony basically gave it to them for free.

While it appeared to be channeling some other recent cable hits, nothing wrong with that if it can carve out its own turf. I thought the chemistry between the two leads was great and it struck a good balance between serious and offbeat. Having meaningful situations going on with their wives adds a good dimension as well. I'd give it about an 8/10. Nicely filmed, very well produced.
I thought that it was awesome. I would say the best new show this season - at least out of those that raised my interest. And you're right, it was just the right mix of fun and serious stuff.
