Happy New Year, everyone. Here are the fast affiliate results for Monday, Dec. 31 broken out overall by network, and via each half-hour by network (in the order of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW).
What can be said about New Years Eve programming. Everyone is out Partying.
One thing is clear though. ABC needs to greenlight, sight unseen, a Shrek 1/2 animated comedy, and pair it up with my previous sugestion of an Incredibles TV series.
ABC would be a LOT worse off if it didn't have Shrek during the month of December.

Good to see ABC ring out the old year with such a nice set of numbers for low-HUT New Year's Eve.
Happy New Year Marc, and to everybody at pifeedback.com and at the networks too...best wishes for a healthy, prosperous 2008 where all the good shows get plump Nielsens.
P.S. - I like tv-aholic's idea for ABC to re-enter the animated sitcom format with a pairing of Shrek and The Incredibles. Some network needs to rise to the challenge of FOX's animation domination block.

First, happy new year to everyone! Second, ABC would be very wise to go after a Shrek or Incredibles comedy or anything from Dreamworks which has been nothing but gold for the House of Mouse. While they're at it, with the strike going on, how about bringing back the enjoyable series Dinosaurs from the 90s. Kudos to ABC's programing last night. So much for their horrible holiday ratings.

While we are at it, let's give a big round of applause to the geniuses at ABC for airing a 5+ minute infomercial for American Idol at the end of Shrek. What were they thinking? That closing should have been 'edited for time and content'. If ABC was 5 minutes short, they could have just aired 5 minutes worth of makegoods interspersed with promos for the shows that will be premiering in the next week or so.

Dinosaurs was fun, but it got old quick. Why rehash a an old, unsuccessful show when there are plenty of successful shows to rip off

WHy was ABC promoting AI??? What exactly was it that ABC aired??
Um, does no one remember the disaster that was Father of the Pride back on NBC in fall 2004? Expensive and awful (of course, if you could do something that was good and with known characters, maybe that'd offset the expensive)... but I don't see it happening. Why dilute the brand of Shrek further when you still have movies coming out (now, The Incredibles... I've no idea why there's no sequel on the horizon and is Disney-Pixar so would be a better deal for ABC).
Wow, there was a lot of promotion of Lost on Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve (including an incredibly well-placed minute-long promo at 11:58pm) last night (I recorded it). Anyone know what the ratings for the late-night portion of Dick Clark were?

I wasn't watching last night, but if IIRC, it was an American Idol parody featuring the movie's characters. I think it originally either aired over the credits or maybe it was a DVD extra. Oh well, AI's going to get huge ratings regardless what ABC aired last night.
