Marc has it exactly right--PD would collapse the moment the other networks put anything resembling real competition against it.
And in spite of being in about the easiest timeslot on TV this season, with nothing but doomed sitcoms and flop reality shows to contend with, and in spite of it not being Halloween, and there not being any baseball, PD can't manage better than a 3.1 in the demo?
A show doesn't get renewed by winning its timeslot. A show can win its timeslot every single week and be canceled. It can fail to win its timeslot every week and be renewed.
ABC Maintains 0.3 Lead in A18-49 After Two Weeks of the 2007 November Sweep:
After the first two weeks of the November Sweep, ABC continues to maintain the lead in the young adult demo with a first place 3.7 A18-49 average. CBS is second with an average 3.4 in A18-49, while NBC is close behind in third place with a 3.3 average in A18-49 and FOX is just behind the Peacock with a 3.2 A18-49 average. The CW remains mired in fifth with a 1.2 in A18-49 with MyNetworkTV bringing up the rear with its 0.4 in A18-49.
In households and viewership, CBS continues to maintain a very narrow lead over ABC with NBC third, FOX fourth, The CW trailing in fifth and MyNetworkTV bringing up the rear in sixth.
On a year-over-year basis, FOX and MyNetworkTV are the only networks showing year-over-year improvement. CBS and ABC are mostly down in the single digit percentage range, while NBC and The CW continue to post significant double-digit year-over-year losses of young adult demo, households and viewers.

That's a fact--like it or not.
I am sure if you keep whining about PD every week ABC will just have to ignore those promising numbers and cancel the show, so keep at it, nevermind the facts. Why should a +0.5 in the demo get in a way of another enlightened rant?

As has been the case for a while now, the stike puts everything on a wait and see basis, but let us assume the strike is resolved, and things go back to business as usual. Here is what I see with these numbers:
ABC- They will renew Pushing Daisies. I think the critical acclaim and possible award attention will keep it around for a second season.
PP is set.
DSM will either get tried at another time, or be axed. The latter seems more like a possibility, though, considering the nature of the show. Hard to move a weekly soap and keep an audience, let alone increase it.
NBC- Phenomenon is a joke. Bionic and Life are both not long for the televison world, even wit Life's increase. I doubt either show can rebound from these numbers.
FOX- pretty much ok on the night I would say.
CBS- Other than Kid Nation, very good results
CW- ANTM is gold, and GG could inch to 3 million soon. Could, I say. Might not, but an increase is always good.
Stick a fork in DSM, its done. Once finals are released, it should be under 8 million viewers for the night, a season/series low.
And rightly so...this was a dumb idea for a drama. How could anyone enjoy watching the loathsome Darling Family is beyond me.
KID NATION not on the loser list for once and picks up some viewers. Still hoping for a season 2 for the summer where 7.5 would be good numbers.
Marc is right about the novelty of PUSHING DAISIES wearing off. In fact when it returns I would not be surprised if it was this years COMMANDER IN CHIEF-starting off with a bang and going out with a whimper.

Yeah, I guess that works too, but I'm sticking with Studio 60.
I hope ABC does something to keep DSM. I love the characters and the show..crazy as both are.
Regarding Marie Osmond on Larry king, I did see her face and she seemed quite surprised by Larry bringing up her son. I am pretty sure that Larry's wife and Marie are close friends though through the Mormon church. Maybe Shawn spilled the beans to Larry - Marie handled it pretty well though.

You sure seem angry about this show for someone who is "laughing". Perhaps unhappy that you can't find anything to support your view in this week numbers?

You make it so easy.
Bless you.
It ie easy indeed to defend one of the most successfull and critically acclaimed new shows of the season. Your weird obsessive stance, on the other hand...
