-Ratings Breakdown: It was a Monday of split leadership, with ABC first in total viewers (but third among adults 18-49), and CBS No. 1 among adults 18-49.
ABC’s final Dancing With the Stars performance show, which was trimmed back to 90-minutes, rose to a season-high 20.49 million viewers and a 4.1 rating/10 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9:30 p.m. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
Dancing With the Stars (ABC) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 18.82 million (#1), A18-49: 3.6/10 (#2) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 20.71 million (#1), A18-49: 4.0/10 (#2) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 21.93 million (#1), A18-49: 4.6/11 (#2)
As to who will be crowned the winner tonight, let’s start with Kelly Osbourne, who is a shoo-in for third-place. But she does, no doubt, deserve a tremendous amount of credit for getting this far. Maya, of course, was the standout from day one, but the man called Osmond has a huge fan base of 50+ women who watch Dancing With the Stars. Based on the dancing itself, Maya deserves to win. Unfortunately, though, that does not mean she will. My pick: Donny Osmond.
Dancing With the Stars led into the series-premiere of reality series Find My Family, which should be sponsored by Kleenix. Find My Family kicked-off 12.90 million viewers and a 2.9/ 7 among adults 18-49 -- second in both categories at 9:30 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the 9 p.m. portion of Dancing With the Stars was disappointing at 59 percent in total viewers and 63 percent in the demo. Beginning next Monday, Find My Family airs for one hour beginning at 9 p.m.
Capping off the evening for ABC was Castle at a second-place 10.46 million viewers and a 2.7/ 7 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m.
CBS had what you could call a typical evening with its line-up of How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #3, 8.79 million; A18-49: #2, 3.7/10), Accidentally on Purpose (Viewers: #3, 7.90 million; A18-49: #3, 3.2/ 8), Two and a Half Men (Viewers: #2, 13.91 million; A18-49: #1, 4.7/12), The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #1, 14.22 million; A18-49: #1, 5.2/13) and CSI: Miami (Viewers: #1, 13.18 million; A18-49: #1, 3.7/10). Personally speaking, I think last night’s episode of amazing The Big Bang Theory was the best to-date.
Next up was Fox care of always reliable House (Viewers: #2, 11.88 million; A18-49: #1, 4.5/12) and Lie To Me (Viewers: #3, 7.27 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 7), which is keeping the 9 p.m. hour occupied until the return of 24 in January. NBC had another dismal Monday as a result of Heroes (Viewers: #4, 5.17 million; A18-49: #4, 2.3/ 6), which needs to be officially canceled , Trauma (Viewers: #4, 5.32 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 4), which the network just ordered three additional episodes for, and struggling The Jay Leno Show (Viewers: #3, 4.54 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 4). And the CW closed the night with repeats of One Tree Hill (Viewers: #5, 1.33 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 2) and Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5, 1.22 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 1), which will be back with original episodes next week.
Good night for CBS and ABC. Fox was down but not out. NBC again in the cellar. They need to wrap Heroes up before the Olympics and start fresh on Mondays with Parenthood and Mercy. Let Chuck and Trauma test out Wednesdays and shift SVU, which is down by huge margins year to year, to Sundays at 10pm out of 2 hour Celebrity Apprentice.
How about Castle?! Great episode last night and good ratings this morning. 2.7 demo out of 2.9 lead in! Woo hoo!
While the actual retention for Find My Family was not all that great, I still maintain that it did well considering that it's not with a compatible lead-in.(And folks like myself tuned in to see it without paying attention to it's lead-in)
As for Castle's numbers, they're about average. Cue pisher's weekly negative spin on Castle's numbers.
Castle: Still not a winner, still not able to hang onto any lead-in, still up against one other scripted show (broadcast OR cable) and Leno, still a dead duck the moment it goes to a tougher timeslot.
And all this proves is that ABC should extend "Find My Family" to fill out the 10-11 slot as well.

Congrats to BBT. It deserves it after last night's episode, which was quite good aside from having Kripke in the episode. Why again couldn't Sarah Gilbert have been Sheldon's arch nemesis? Agreed that AOP is a goner, despite a very funny episode. If that show was on any other network it would have a full season and oodles of promos from the network each week. Maybe ABC should consider for their Wednesday block? I think it would fit well with Cougar Town.
Castle held almost all of its lead in demographically. What are you smoking? 2.7 to 2.9- its over pishy.

Ah! Like clockwork! Sorry, but no matter how pisher tries to spin it, Castle's numbers are good(not great, but good). Expand Find My Family to the 10-11PM slot? I think that's a bit pre-mature consider we don't know how it's numbers will hold up in subsequent weeks. Not to mention that if we're so concerned about lead-in's, Castle hung onto more of it's leadin this week than FMF did. ) So until Castle's numbers actually take a serious hit(like the rest of ABC's new shows seem to have), they'd be fools to can it.

Forget about it. Find My Family drops like a rock next week without the DWTS lead in.

On any other network AOP's numbers would be much lower
think NBC was too hasty to order new episodes with TRAUMA. They should have gone with the orginal plan to make DAY ONE a series instead of a mini series. 2012 seems to indicate there is an audience for end of world scenarios so they shouldn't have bailed so quickly on the concept...who knows it MIGHT have been the one show that clicked with viewers like HEROES did with season one.
Who is going to tell Conan he's out when NBC must switch LENO back to the TONIGHT SHOW?
NBC is a collosal joke. Folks the NBC we are seeing right now is comparible to the NBC of the late 1970's before the breakout hit DIFF'RENT STROKES startd their come back.
This is the NBC of SUPERTRAIN and KATE COLUMBO. A ratings black hole with no hope in sight.

Maybe. These are all hypotheticals but I think AOP would do well as part of the ABC comedy block.
