I wish CBS would put Price is Right 1 Million Dollar Spectacular back on Friday nights instead of Wednesdays. It would easily win the night, and give me something to watch when I'm home.

Don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to some of those shows, esp Christian Slater's, Merlin and The Listener. I'll skip the Office spinoff and Knight Rider, just as I never bothered with the shows that spawned them. Still on the fence about Kath and Kim, as I'm not exactly a big sitcom fan.
The fact that we saw nothing in terms of content for 3/4 of this just means I have really nothing to say when it comes to the new shows. My Own Worst Enemy looks the best to me, but perhaps that's because its the only series that had real footage. Knight Rider, Crusoe, the Office Spinoff- forget about it. The Philanthropist- what's the point- sounds like they basically tried to script Oprah's Big Give. Merlin- sounds like a better made for tv movie. Kings- again, what's the point. I just notice a reoccurring theme with all of these shows in that they seem to be going after limited audiences. Its almost like they're putting out 5 or 6 more Journeymans, which probably wasn't a terrible series, but premiering after Heroes coupled with having complicated storylines and plots doesn't sound all that appealing.
I'll watch anything that airs against CSI Miami, and MOWE sounds ok. Or at least like something I can try for a few weeks. As for "5 or 6 Journeyman" - I think it's great NBC offers a whole lot of sci fi and fantasy this year. At least they are breaking out of the mold - no more medical / lawyer / whodunit dramas. We should support it instead of bitch and moan about it (as we do for the formula shows anyway). We haven't seen much or any footage of most shows because they are in production. I'd rather wait and pass judgment AFTER I actually watch a couple of eps.
I think it's quite an enticing promo...some of those shows look quite watchable, and very mould-breaking too.
Based on what I've seen so far, I'm most excited about what NBC and FOX have coming up new this fall, and less so about the new fall offerings of the other four broadcast networks.

"Most Outrageous Moments", time period winner in the 8-9 pm hour, is NBC's unsung pinchhitter series, though historically it hasn't gotten much love from the network...I thought it had been officially cancelled by Mr. Reilly, though Mr. Silverman seems to have revived it.

How can you tell. We got virtually no real content from NBC and putting classic children's stories like Robinson Cruseo and Camelot on TV is not original at all. Ditto for Knight Rider remakes. Fox does have some original concepts on the way in Fringe and Dollhouse, but NBC has nothing that sounds remotely like it will catch on.

I don't know about anyone else but ever since Lost hit it big, every year it seems like just about every network tries a new sci fi project of some sort. Most of this stuff has very limited appeal so while I'm certainly down for a few here or there, putting your entire lineup into an area that has an even higher failure rate than usual smells like a network that doesn't know what its doing (which is precisely what NBC is).
As for watching anything against CSI:Miami, why not check out what will surely be a great final 13 episodes of Boston Legal. There isn't another show on TV that combines humor and drama in such a compelling way. Plus, you'll get to see the whole storyline play out, unlike MOWE, which will probably get cancelled by mid-November. Although, knowing NBC, low ratings seem to be a good thing so they'll probably keep it on the air even if it does fail.

I love how they have the song "well, I believe the world is coming to and end..." playing during the promotion of how NBC is best. I just sort of laughed at that, clearly they could have picked a better song.

Yesterday's Eurovision Song Contest's final was watched in UK by 7.1 million viewers. That's lower than usual but still very big (for comparison the biggest scripted british show pull 7-8 million viewers, Lost gets 600,000 but on cable) Last year Eurovision Song Contest was watched by almost 190 million viewers in Europe, making it the biggest non-sporting event in the world (outside India and China)

21 million viewers for Knight Rider??? I tought the backdoor pilot drew 12-13 million.

Not surprised by the "low" numbers. This year's edition was boring. Plus there is a disintrest among Western European countries in the Song Contest due to the "Neighbours friendly voting pattern". And this year we had a second semifinale thrown in the mix. 7 hours in a week is IMO overkill. The Euro 2008 (European Football or Soccer Competition) will begin over 2 weeks that should spike up the ratings in Europe.

I fully support any attempt to put Sci-Fi (even stuff that is tangentially Sci-Fi) on network TV. There's only so many legal and medical shows I can take. I don't care how many of them fail, either. Just giving them a shot is fine by me.
... what I'm really trying to say: it's time to bring back Max Headroom.

I've watched the recording through internet and i found this year's show quite good. As for the western european numbers they're still very good in UK, Spain, nordic countries. I don't think the 2 semifinals is overkill beacause in most countries the semifinal in which they don't take part is broadcasted on a secondary channel

Sorry, I find BL and its two male leads extremely off putting, to the extent I'd rather agonize and watch a reality show over BL. I was an avid Ally McBeal fan (as well as Picket Fences), but I couldn't stand The Practice, and definitely not BL. As a dramedy, I find this show to be quite tragic. Thank the gods we're getting rid of it this year. Hopefully it doesn't spawn another offspring.
