It was a very good move. The spinoff wouldn't have worked.

I don't know. Even under 3 would be decent for NBC, so I think there's a chance they would renew it anyway. That being said, going under 7 million in viewership is terrible for Heroes.

I agree. CW really has overdone the repeats.

I'm beating a dead horse but they could have prevented this by having either Chuck or especially Heroes after the Super Bowl. STUPID!

Marc, anyone have any problems with the digital transition of some stations last week?

When you look at the future prospects for Chuck it is looking quite grim. With DWTS returning, CBS sitcoms airing mostly new episodes in the coming months, and most importantly daylight savings time coming in two weeks its ratings will most likely continue to decline. Don't underestimate the daylight savings time effect on those 8:00 shows.

What NBC should do is move it to Wednesdays at 8:00. At least give it a shot there. It certainly could not do any worse than Knight Rider. With AI moving out of the time slot in two weeks, it will have a good chance there. It will have little competition. ABC is moving in that bomb Scrubs and some other sitcom there, the CBS sitcoms have almost no viewers under 65, and the FOX show Lie to Me will be its only real competition. As a younger people's show it could possibly do well there. In the time slot it is now with that incredible competition it has no chance.

I don't think CBS would pick up Medium. CBS has very few open spots as it is and they will be filled with the shows they have in development.

Neither of those 2 NBC programs would have done better than the 22 million people who watched "The Office" that night. Plus, the whole NBC Monday lineup got ample promotion throughout the Super Bowl, and "Chuck" got over 8 million as a result. It's just that the show, as much as I like it, isn't going to catch on with the masses ever.

The good news is, with NBC so ratings-deficient overall, "Chuck" will probably stay on the network for at least one more season. Maybe even two.

With some new midseason shows yet to premiere, some new shows next year, and the cut back of an hour each night, I doubt Chuck will return next year.

Another article about the CW early pick ups:

I hope the CW doesn't fight too hard to keep Supernatural after next season. I don't want Erick Kripke to give in the way that the Smallville people has. I care more about shows than networks.

I agree with everything said about Medium here - the show is one brightspot on NBC's schedule, IMO. The sad fact that Heroes is now getting the same ratings as Chuck just goes to show which show is the better one (and it's obviously Medium). Medium has gotten better with every episode this season - last night's episode was amazing. I love it when a show is full of things happening, and not just fluff, and that's what Medium is every week.

It'll definitely be back next season. And I think the way NBC is right now, they'll wise up and give Medium a fall slot. God knows it deserves it. It managed to build 1.5 million viewers of Heroes this week - again, it should definitely be in the "Honorable Mention" category.

One thing people bypassed is Old Christine last night - it got about a million more than WW did last week, and OC was a repeat, and Men had about a million more viewers last week. That goes to show that there is still interest out there for Old Christine, but it isn't on Wednesday. Maybe CBS would have been smarter airing Old Christine on Mondays again - I for sure would have preferred it over Rules of Engagement.

Looks like Heroes just squeaked past the 7 million mark in finals - still not good at all.

So at least now NBC can say Heroes didn't fall under 7 million viewers?
