I thoroughly enjoyed 'Glee' as well, and am very impressed with its opening A18-49 number. With numbers like that, it could have a 'Fame'-like run ahead of it.
I hope FOX's success with 'Glee' inspires the broadcasters to look into developing a few more musical-drama or musical-comedy series to brighten the television landscape.
The season premiere of 'Glee' absolutely commands in the A18-49s, thoroughly trouncing 'Wipeout', 'America's Got Talent' and 'America's Next Top Model'.

Thankfully Glee it's not a musical, it's a drama with a lot of good music in it. Make it a musical and i'm out.
I don't get how Glee is a winner? It's a great show IMO, but didn't the pilot episode get like 11-12 million viewers? 7.3 doesn't seem all that great... That's pretty low. The re-airing of the pilot got like 4.5 million viewers. That's only 3 million extra viewers that tuned in. That's pretty bad, isn't it?
Surprised to see Glee grow so much from the lead-in since Dance had less competition. I'm not convinced the dropoff will be that steep for Glee in the coming weeks. The ABC comedies are unproven (and ABC hasn't had a hit comedy in years), and Criminal Minds and SVU will skew older. I think if people liked what they saw last night, there's a chance most of the audience could stick around.

Pretty good for Obama as well, disappointing for SYTYCD

The Obama speech was much tougher competition than FOX ever dreamed. And deciding their paltry premieres were more important than healthcare reform (which The Boss opposes anyway) is going to cost them.
No. The premiere after Idol had less than 8 million viewers. This is a pretty good number.

Hardly. Fox doesn't even have a broadcast news presence in a national form. I'm sure Fox affiliates could've carried the speech via Fox News (which is all the main network feed ever is anyway) if they wanted to. Fox would've scored the worst ratings of all the networks if it had carried the speech on the network and Fox News would've had more viewers. Not everyone is interested in hearing him blab all the time when we can get the summary online 10 minutes later and not waste an hour of our lives. Kudos to Fox for bailing and not f'ing up their premiere lineups.
Did you even watch Glee Marc? Almost everyone who did loved it. I think its Fox's most promising newcomer.

America's Next Top Model was lower than last year but considering it was up against two shows that are in its target audience, it fared alright plus it increased across two hours which is a good sign.

Sadly what we saw last night was not "healthcare reform", just a speech on "healthcare reform". As Elvis once said: "a little less conversation, a little more action please"

Hey, at least it beat Obama on CBS. Barely.
It beat all networks where it counts, demographics. You know, that thing you use when it suits the spin for the shows you like *cough Fringe cough*.
