CBS got over the “hump” in winning fashion, finishing Wednesday first in total viewers and adults 18-49 as a result of Power of 10 (Viewers: #1, 8.40 million; A18-49: #1, 2.1/ rating/7 share), a repeat of Criminal Minds (Viewers: #1, 8.49 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 6), and a repeat of CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 8.89 million; A18-49: #1, 2.7/ 7). Obviously, if upcoming Wednesday 8 p.m. occupant Kid Nation crashes, CBS already has a replacement.
Second overall was NBC’s combination of back-to-back repeats of Most Outrageous Moments (Viewers: #2, avg. 5.79 million; A18-49: #2, avg. 1.7/ 5), Last Comic Standing 5 (Viewers: #2. 6.46 million; A18-49: #1, 2.6/ 7), and Dateline (Viewers: #2, 5.69 million; A18-49: #2, 2.0/ 6). Look for Dateline Saturday at 8 p.m. ET this fall.
Fox opened the evening with back-to-back repeats of ‘Til Death (Viewers: #4, avg. 3.16 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 1.2/ 4 from 8-9 p.m.), which replaced one-episode-wonder Anchorwoman, followed by a repeat of Bones at 9 p.m. (Viewers: #3, 4.34 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 4).
ABC had an abysmal night, meanwhile, care of two repeat episodes of the should-have-been canceled According to Jim (Viewers: #3, 4.42 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 5), NASCAR in Prime-time (Viewers: #4, 3.49 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4), and Primetime: The Outsiders (Viewers: #3, 3.48 million; A18-49: #3, 1.2/ 3). Did you know that ABC launched 11 series this summer and they all failed. For a listing of these summer turkeys, listen to today’s PIPodcast.
Last, and very least, were back-to-back repeats of America’s Next Top Model on the CW at an average 1.70 million viewers and a 0.8/ 2 in the demo from 8-10 p.m. Like all reality/competitions, repeats of Top Model do not play well, and there is no reason to expect that the Sunday 9 p.m. encore will generate much interest next season.
