I, for one, do not understand why ABC and FOX bothered airing originals last night (especially if Glee only has 3 episodes left in the initial 13... air all three in December, there's time before Christmas).
CBS's crime dramas down, but not as much as the other nets.
Wow, these numbers are low for just about everything last night. I know its the last night of sweeps, but I have to wonder why the networks insist on airing new episodes when they know this night is always low-rated. I mean, NBC made a good decision by airing the 2 hour Biggest Loser special, which did well. And, Jay Leno actually didn't seem to be affected much at all. CBS was affected bigtime in the demos - OC/GU did okay with viewers, but their demos were lower than normal, and the same goes with Criminal Minds and CSI:NY.
ABC - these numbers are horrific. Modern Family hitting a 2.4 demo? Didn't it just have a 3.6 last week? Cougar Town - 1.9 demo??? And Eastwick - there are no words for those numbers. What a shame, too, because all 3 comedies had fantastic episodes. They made a big mistake airing new episodes here. And Glee - a series low? What a shame, because it was a good episode as always. Let's just hope we see DVR levels abnormally high this week.
NBC actually did pretty well last night. The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now? did very well considering everything else. Criminal Minds was the only show to do a 3.0 demo? Considering it was the 100th episode, CBS should have waited one more week. Too bad about Modern Family and Cougar Town as they both had pretty good episodes last night. It seems kind of odd that the CBS 8pm comedies did about the same as Cougar Town. I'm guessing as the night progressed, more people went out or traveled.
NBC surely the winner of the night with the Biggest Loser proving it is anything but that. NBCs highest rated Wednesday of the season? They should definitely do this special again.
OK, the drop was Thanksgiving related but i would be worried for CT if i were ABC. I remember Pushing Daisies's decline started pretty much the same way
CBS really wasted Criminal Minds 100th Episode. It could have gotten much higher ratings next week, perhaps a season high.

I agree to an extent. But, if they were worrying about Cougar Town, they should also be worried about Modern Family - it had a 3.6 last week, dropped to a 2.4 this week. That's a HUGE drop. Cougar Town had about the same drop, percentage wise. And, with viewers probably tuning out as the night went on, it's safe to give it a pass this week.
It was dumb of ABC to air all new episodes last night. They gotta learn to stop doing this, because it hurts everything. But, for Cougar Town to lose so badly even to the CBS comedies in total viewers, and for Modern Family to barely beat Old Christine in total viewers, is just sad.

We have this same discussion every year. Why program the night with originals. Sweep results wouldn't change. ABC should have aired a movie and be done with it. They never have an audience on Thanksgiving Eve or Day.

Pushing Daisies decline started much earlier than Thanksgiving.
