Hate the Packers, could care less about the Bears. Shark Tank is awesome!

Anyone else like the addition of the "Shark Tank Effect"?

If this show is going to have any longevity whatsoever, it can't exist in a vacuum. "Where are they now?" stories are not just a nice touch, they're a necessity.

But I'm afraid that every single one of these pieces will end up not having much substance and just be a happy ending for all parties involved. What I'd like to see are some businesses that went on to fold, perhaps even after getting Shark assistance, or better yet, some people who were highly successful even though the Sharks shot them down. I hope I'm wrong and we get to see a wide variety of results.

ABC sets up trio of laffers
Network takes on '18,' 'Gavin,' Todd sitcom

quote:
ABC has given a pilot commitment to "18 Years," a half-hour sitcom from Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith ("The King of Queens").

Also at the Alphabet, the network is adapting a U.S. version of the BBC romantic comedy "Gavin and Stacey" and has a new sitcom in the works from "Samantha Who?" exec producer Don Todd.

Laffer "18 Years" centers on a young urbanite couple who must adjust to their new life as parents -- trading their fast-paced existence for a more domesticated lifestyle.

Yuspa and Goldsmith are writing the pilot and will exec produce; Sony Pictures TV is set to produce.

The scribes are familiar with turning life-altering milestones into sitcoms, having created the marriage-centered comedy " 'Til Death" for Fox. At ABC, they last created the wedding-themed comedy "Big Day."

Yuspa and Goldsmith's feature credits include "13 Going on 30" and "What Women Want."

Meanwhile, ABC's new take on "Gavin and Stacey" will be written by Stacy Traub ("Notes From the Underbelly") and Hayes Jackson ("According to Jim").

BBC Worldwide is producing the laffer. The U.K. version, written by Ruth Jones and James Corden, revolves around a young man from England who strikes up a relationship over the phone with a young woman from Wales.

The two eventually decide to meet, and hit it off -- but must navigate their eccentric families and friends. In the U.K. series, which recently aired here on BBC America, Mathew Horne played Gavin, while Joanna Page starred as Stacey.

As for the new Todd project, untitled laffer centers on a thirtysomething woman who's promoted to a new job managing a bunch of young twentysomething workers. She soon discovers that this younger "millennial" generation doesn't grasp the concept of boundaries -- and is looking for a boss that can also double as a mother, therapist, coach and friend.

Multicamera laffer will be written and exec produced by Todd. ABC Studios is the studio; Brillstein Entertainment Partners is also onboard. BEP's Peter Traugott is an exec producer; others may be added as exec producers at a later date.

Please go here or click the above Emmy banner and pick the winners of the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

If you're in the mood to celebrate the WORST in television...

The 2009 Lemon Awards Parts 1 & 2 are still available for online voting until Sunday! If you haven't voted...
LINK: Vote Now In Part 1!
LINK: Vote Now In Part 2!

And surprise! Another new game to the forum...

It's back! And, for the first time, for Premiere Week! (Same format as our regular Sweeps Daily Games) Just guess one or more of your selected program's final 18-49 demographic before each night at 7:00 PM Eastern time. For incentive to play the new shows debuting September 21-27, 2009, you do not lose as much earnings, compared to returning shows, if you do not predict the correct Adults 18-49 demographic. Remember: you can play multiple nights so you won't have to miss any of the nights of fall programming.

LINK: Play right now! (click on the sweeps game logo above or below)

P.S. Yes, past PIFC players, I know I have to update the summer Sweeps Daily Games. Those updates will be posted within the coming days.

Incredible isn't it? Kanya rarely actually "sings" in his music and everything sounds like the track before it. I for one don't really care all that much for Swift, but she at least sings her songs.
