I'm right with you on that one Marc. I never got what the big hype was about Friends. To me, Seinfeld was always three times as funny.

I really think Girlfriends has been hurt by Heroes. Heroes has a diverse cast and is strong in demos. Girlfriends is a strong demo comedy with strong in the african american demos. With Girlfriends being on Sundays at first it allowed viewers to get hooked on Heroes. I really think Heroes is the main issue.

About How I Met Your Mother if anyone watched last night's episode you have to notice there is something special about this show. Robin Sparkles might be one of the funnier thing on television yet this season.

I cannot believe how long the video was!

Marc, I agree with you on HIMYM. I have never been able to get into it, but it's not like there are very many good comedies on TV anyway...also, Old Christine really needs to make Wanda Sykes a regular.

I am knew here and this is a great forum

I agree with Bb2 that the episode was great. I also agree with vlis but it was really funny. All the slapping involved was hilarious.

I think pairing Medium with Heroes would be a good idea. But not always does a similar show premise always mean success in ratings. Just ask the former WB about the post 7th Heaven slot for almost the entire run of the series. At one point they had Angel(one of my all time favorite shows, but by no means even close to sharing the same audience as 7th Heaven) following it. They finally found a match in another family drama with Everwood only to foolishly ship it off to Thursdays, and then back to its original timeslot to end its run.

On a related note, I can't think of a worse programming decision by any network in the past few years as the CW deciding to not take Everwood to the new network. I know they wanted to try out a new series in Runaway, but there is no way in heck that Everwood doesn't perform much better than it did in the same timeslot. Mixing and matching shows from the WB and UPN was enough of a shakeup for potential viewers. It probably would have been a better idea to stick with as many possible returning veteran shows as possible for some sense of familiarity, then at midseason try out some new shows and see how they take.

Glad you like, TVfan300. I'm beginning to also like the brother on Old CHristine, but that ex-husband and kid -- yeech!

Well, maybe they want to make nice with JJ Abrams? Wink

I've often felt that was the only reason WAB got renewed last season. In my opinion every new show that got canceled last season deserved it more. In Justice on Fridays posted the same numbers as WAB for the most part, and that was on Fridays, If I'm not mistaken WAB only had a small lead in 18-49, but that's on a Monday vs Friday. I didn't care for Invasion but once again it had better numbers. Commander in Chief was okay but it really didn't get renewed for other reasons, they had problems with production from the beginning, getting episodes in on time.

I personally think ABC will back down on it's order for WAB. JJ Abrams had a big hit with Lost but with Lost's audience starting to fade, it's still got good ratings but not as good as it did, they might not care too much about keeping him happy.

ABC should go back to the well and look for family oriented comedies.

Marc am I right in saying that the only family comedies on television today are the Sunday Fox animated comedies with Reba being the only scripted family comedy? Look how well Reba did in the death slot last night. To me ABC would be wise to schedule AtJ and GLo away from Idol. Friday may be a good night for some old school family comedies. Sure they are not the best written family shows, but they would be a good way to end the week.

I don't think there is any place ABC can put those comedies to succeed anymore. George Lopez already aired on Friday and didn't do well, so why would it now?

The bottom line is that if they averaged 6.5 million on Friday that would be acceptable and would be a boost over the Grey's repeats that are currently offered. Plus I think that their male skewing demo is a good lead in to the Knights of Prosperity.

I still miss Life With Bonnie. Remember that sitcom?

Life with Bonnie was the most creative, original comedy that ABC ever had. It was hysterical and the cast was great. ABC should have stuck with it.
