Just a heads up on those poor Fringe numbers. While it did get promoted well during Baseball, there seems to be at least a few areas (providers) that never updated thier On Screen schedules (including where I live). There have been more then a few reports of people not even knowing that there was a new episode on for a few reasons: 1 They didnt watch the World Series 2 Their On Screen Guide did not update, so they didn't see that there was a new episode.
I can see this also hurting the DVR numbers for this weeks episode. I think all this cancelation talk is premature, and well ahve to see next week if the demo\total numbers actual hold, or go back to what they were earlier in the season.
I do have to say that the move along with the breaks this show takes have hurt it in the long run. I think last season there were multiple breaks of multiple weeks, I think each time the numbers were a little lower the week it came back as people remembers that it was back on. Only time will tell though, but really I dont think Fox has anything that would do any better in that timeslot.
I personally think Fox knew what they were getting into when they moved the show to Thursday. They would HAVE to know that going up against entrenched demo\total number shows would be a touch task for anything they put there.

The FOX head programmer is on Twitter and he said yesterday about Fringe :
"I know #FRINGE took a hit after two weeks off but, trust me, next week's episode "August" is awesome and well worth coming back for."

IT doesnt mattter to those who have already called for the death of this show ....Personally I am sticking with the show as the good episodes far outweigh the bad episodes. From the post it looks like they knew the F'd up in more ways then one. LAst year they did it so often they thought they could do it again and be OK, this season though I think they needed to be more careful with the new more competetive timeslot.

It sounds to me like they gave it a pass this week since it was off for two weeks.

FOX head programmer this is for you for putting Fringe in this competitive timeslot
Originally posted by curious: Fringe is on and Supernatural is down again *sigh* It's obvious that Fringe is killing SPN - last week it wasn't on and even against football, SPN went up to 2.92 mil. So, Fringe's killing SPN but dying in the process. 1.7 demo for a Fox show on Thursday? Wow!
Uhh... you think 200,000 viewers is such a big difference? It's not Fringe that kills it, in fact CSI and Grey's hurt it more. There's a lot that factors in the ratings being down, but blaming it on Fringe alone just isn't accurate. With a lead in like VD SPN should be doing better, it's time for Supernatural to end.
I have no numbers to back this up, but I really don't think that Grey's or CSI are the main competition for Supernatural. Sure they put a dent it in and have done for many years, but not in the same way that Fringe does. Fringe and SPN share the same audience and it's killing both of them (Fringe moreso than SPN).
In general, I think FOX is the main competition for the CW. I don't think it's any surprise that the CW has had season highs for 3 of its shows during the two weeks that FOX has been showing baseball.
I'm also not surprised that Bones took a hit last night. I didn't think there would be new episodes showing if there was no baseball game to be shown.

I never get this attitude. Ever. This is not arts programming. This is a big budget drama that got massive promotion, and a great lead-in for its entire first season.
How long were they supposed to go on coddling it?
If they renew it, you've got nothing to complain about. And they will allow for the competition. Personally, I think it would have dropped even if it had stayed in the same timeslot, with the same competition. It is simply a less entertaining show this season thus far.
