The Mentalist is being wasted at 10:00. However, I don't want CBS to simply flip-flop it with CSI either. They really need to take advantage of the show and move it to 8:00. It's almost getting the same demos as Survivor AND draws about 4 million more viewers. With its sense of humor and crime aspect, it could easily become Thursday's NCIS and serve as a great lead-in for either CSI or a new high-profile drama.

TheMBC, it's hardly a big compliment. Few things are more idiotic and lame than Twilight.

Last night I saw "Vampire Diaries" (@ 6pm CT on CFTO-DT), "Bones" and "Fringe" (@ 7 and 8 pm CT on WUHF-DT), The Mentalist (@ 9 pm CT on WCCO-DT) and then "FlashForward", "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" (at 10 pm, 11 pm and Midnight CT on KOMO-DT. Later I watched "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" on my computer after I downloaded it using BitTorrent.

Thursday is one great night of TV. Since I bought my HDTV and the Pace Summit HD-DCT I've been watching more TV live instead of downloading 95% of my shows. My next goal is to buy a PVR Expander (a eSATA external hard drive) so I can turn my DCT into a HD-PVR.

I love living in Winnipeg because I get the best of living in Canada like receiving both Canadian and US network stations with Timeshifting plus as we don't have any digital TV stations broadcasting yet none of the American stations are subject to Simulataneous Substitution or blackout.

Saw a few minutes of this last night and it seemed really bad. Wasn't prepared for the HBO level language for FX, but had the quality of The Factory by Spike TV

It wasn't its best ever episode, but it was a good episode. I laughed several times.

Also worthy of positive mention was NBC’s The Office, with 7.94 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 3.9/10 among adults 18-49 in the 9 p.m. half-hour despite what I personally think was one of the worst episodes of the sitcom to-date.

Haha I suppose you're right, it's also incredibly easy to outdo Twilight. At least the first movie, maybe with the new director it'll be better the second time around.

The Vampire Diaries

- 2.6/4 HH
- 1.9/5 A18-49
- 2.1/6 A18-34
- 3.1/9 W18-34

Wow--twice as many viewers as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but the same exact 18-49 demo. Not so terribly young-skewing after all. Clearly a lot of older people watch it--perhaps the mothers of the tweener girls obsessed with it. I seem to recall reading about mothers and daughters attending book signings with the author of those Twilight books--a mutual passion. A bonding thing.

NBC:

- 2.3/6 A18-49

Parks and Recreation
- 4.914 million viewers

- 2.2/6 A18-49

ABC:
Flashforward
- 8.570 million viewers
- 5.5/9 HH
- 2.6/7 A18-49

The CW:
The Vampire Diaries
- 4.090 million viewers
- 2.6/4 HH
- 1.9/5 A18-49
- 2.1/6 A18-34
- 3.1/9 W18-34

Everyone always talks about how poorly the NBC comedies usually do at 8pm compared with Vampire Diaires. However, at this point it appears that FlashForwad may be doing the worst. For such a high profile show and a big budget (just guessing at its a high profile drama) the show should be doing better. Anyone think The CW can grab a third place finish (possibly second) at 8pm in the near future?

Not really surprised about Fringe. This season is awful!

I think you misread the Sunny ratings, pisher Wink

But Vampire Diaries is, indeed, older skewing than other CW shows seem to be. Though VD has averaged from 1.5x-2x the number of viewers as Gossip Girl, it only this week passed GG in W18-34 demo season average. The one time Gossip Girl came CLOSE to VD's overall numbers, last September, it hit 3.9 million-ish viewers and a 2.0 A18-49... but it had a 2.8/8 in A18-34 and a 4.3/12 in W18-34.

Wow, that's pretty sweet. None of the Winnipeg stations (CKY, CKND, CBWT (?), etc.) are broadcasting in hi-def yet? Is it a money and/or market size issue ? When Winnipeg had an NHL team, I believe they were like the second smallest Canadian market.

I just don't think Fringe was ever that strong of a program. It clearly needed some more time to really hammer down some consistent viewers and keeping it on Tuesday was the answer to this. SYTYCD does not need the 3 or 4 hours a week its getting. It should've aired Wed. at 8 and Thur. at 9 this fall. Human Target and Glee can share Wed. at 9pm this mid-season without much problem. If Fringe is to be saved, it has to go back to Tuesdays after Idol. Fridays are not an option (save for burning off Lie to Me and Past Life).

Fringe should get a spot after idol again. So FOX can fix one of the biggest mistakes they have done in recent years

Human Target should get a start after idol because its a new show. But Glee does not need a spot after idol. It is big enough to carry on its own. That show does not need saving so they should focus on the shows thats needs saving like Fringe

So where exactly are they going to move Glee? Thursdays in Fringe's spot against Greys? I think not. Fox needs a younger skewing show like Glee. Glee's 18-34s make the CW squirm without the Idol lead in! Imagine what it can do with the Idol lead in now that its more established. Human Target can share the slot with Glee this year and then perhaps be tested on Monday or Tuesday next year. Glee could end its season in March so it would air virtually repeat free and give HT about 8 to 10 episodes. They could double it up even a few weeks and get close to 13. Fringe simply needed to stay on Tuesdays, but judging by current results, I'm not sure numbers would've been all that hot in an easy slot either.
