You can thank FOX that and for giving it such a bad timeslot. They really screwed Fringe over big time. Those bastards!
Rounding off the 9 p.m. hour was Fox’s Fringe (Viewers: #4, 4.95 million; A18-49: #4, 1.7/ 4), which will pick up some of its lost audience via DVR usage,
Which is cold comfort for FOX, at best.
I didn't see all of last night's ep, but it wasn't as bad as most of the S2 efforts--the cast chemistry remains strong, but the scripts continue to be flat and unconvincing.
I still think it's getting a third season, but I'm increasingly convinced it shouldn't. It's a damn shame, because they had a show here, and they didn't know what to do with it, besides run variations on old X-Files plots.
Yeah FOX really did not treat Fringe good. By giving it this timeslot. FOX backstabed Fringe. This is for you FOX they just killed a potential cult hit i hope those people that put Fringe on thursday are fired now
I'm with you, Curious. VD is targeted to females with the 'love story' as the main focus. I tried it, but couldn't do it. SN was never targeted to the CW demographic and I never considered the dysfunctional relationship between the Winchester brothers a 'love story, so I agree that just because they both deal with supernatural beings doesn't mean they're compatible. Different shows entirely.
And thanks for the Chicago info, Douglas. Looks like the midwest is more sci-fi than procedural. Last nights SN ep was hilarious and they nailed the Gray's and CSI parodies. Too bad we couldn't actually see the Hulk. That would've been fun!

I just don't think Fringe was ever that strong of a program. It clearly needed some more time to really hammer down some consistent viewers and keeping it on Tuesday was the answer to this. SYTYCD does not need the 3 or 4 hours a week its getting. It should've aired Wed. at 8 and Thur. at 9 this fall. Human Target and Glee can share Wed. at 9pm this mid-season without much problem. If Fringe is to be saved, it has to go back to Tuesdays after Idol. Fridays are not an option (save for burning off Lie to Me and Past Life).

Fringe should get a spot after idol again. So FOX can fix one of the biggest mistakes they have done in recent years
Human Target should get a start after idol because its a new show. But Glee does not need a spot after idol. It is big enough to carry on its own. That show does not need saving so they should focus on the shows thats needs saving like Fringe

You're welcome, SueP. If you play the Daily Game right now (access from icon in my signature), you can request even more data from Chicago or any other market!
TV ratings data for the Academy Awards since 1953 now online! Check them out now!

Fringe's season premiere ratings were lower than expected but still decent. However they quickly dropped after that. Even shows like the OC were able to average 7 some million viewers and a 3.1 in the demo after losing its post idol spot and then moving it to Thursday.
If you notice, Fringe had about 3 million fewer viewers than it did in its premiere; I think that shows viewers who saw the premiere didn't like it and decided not to stick around.
I don't think it will be given the post IDOL spot. I think FOX saves that for newer shows, hopes to build them an audience, and then move them to another night and hopes the audience follows.
I think Fringe needs to get up to the 6 millions and mid 2s to survive.
