Thoughts: Big Brother- about what I thought. I still think it will improve. Jericho- goner. New Amsterdam- not overly promising. Probably will lose 6 to 7 million in its move to Monday. ABC: Primetime with SVU in the mix fell to below Boston Legal numbers. Hopefully the chimps realize this. (I'm not holding out any hope).

Sheesh, and people say I'm negative.
NA isn't promising, but there'll be people who like it, and defend it, against all reason, like all pointless FOX genre shows.
This one does have a rather unique conceit--the hero isn't simply immortal, but UNKILLABLE. No stake in the heart, no beam of sunlight, no kitana sword can kill him. He wants to die, and he can't.
Of course, when you get right down to it, neither can the protagonist of ANY open-ended TV series, at least until the writers are wrapping it up, and probably not even then.
So I guess at least they'd be sparing us the indignity of trying to make us believe that THIS week they really might kill the hero.
And his co-star is so boring (not that he's any prize) that they ought to kill her off ASAP--they could make a regular thing out of killing off his partners.
It's a nice-looking show, and the photo montage thingy was neatly done--but they didn't have any real substance behind it.
I honestly don't see why somebody would say THIS show sucked, and SCC didn't.
At least they're trying something sort of new here. Even though Forever Knight covers a lot of the same basic ground--and actually ended with the death of its immortal protagonist. Anyway, that was Crimetime AFTER Primetime. Doesn't count.

I enjoyed New Amsterdam as well. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the pilot was directed by Mr. Lasse Hallstrom, the esteemed director of films such as Chocolat, The Cider House Rules, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and My Life as a Dog. New Amsterdam was a treat for the eyes, cinema for the small screen. I do hope that the directors are future episodes are able to carry forth the Hallstrom magic touch.
But Angel ripped off Forever Knight--and frankly, NA bears NO resemblance to Angel, other than the elements Angel stole from FK.

And Highlander.
I believe I mentioned kitana swords? There was even an oblique reference to Highlander in a scene I saw in one of the promos. I watched about five minutes of the pilot, you know.

And it is a rip-off of the novel Forever.
Now if you're going to start ragging on TV shows for ripping off NOVELS, might I just mention how many ideas Joss Whedon stole without ANY attribution from the Sonja Blue novels of Nancy Collins?

Oh, and Moonlight just a few months ago.
Right, and The Addams Family is a Munsters ripoff--or is it the other way around?

But if pisher says it is original.
Compared to a lame Terminator remake, yeah.

Way to go pisher, defend your new favorite show from all those naysayers!

Something sort of new? I've seen the idea of this series hundreds of times before.
You've seen hundreds of shows with central protagonists who can't be killed by any means, and whose primary quest is to die? Not regain their souls, expiate past sins, or whatever--just to kick it?
That's a new conceit--making the hero unkillable, and the show nothing more than his quest for death.
Okay, Captain Scarlet comes close, but he was INDESTRUCTIBLE, not immortal.
I know all the past instances this basic idea has been used, and with the partial exception of Forever Knight, they were all ripoffs. And they all had passionate defenders who thought it was an outrage when they got canceled.
So basically, this show isn't geeky enough? Is that it?

Did According to Jim did good last night It grew from it's lead in and Carpoolers fell after it.
The Biggest Loser all rose in every hour by a million each hour. Those are pretty good numbers.
