-Ratings Breakdown:
Led by American Idol, it was no contest with Fox the network to beat on Wednesday. Tied for the No. 2 spot was ABC (in adults 18-49) and CBS (in total viewers). NBC finished a distant fourth overall, followed by the CW.
American Idol kicked-off the evening for Fox with 24.39 million viewers and an 8.9 rating/24 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that beat the four competing networks combined. Take a look:
Wednesday 8 p.m.
American Idol (Fox)
Viewers: 24.39 million (#1), A18-49: 8.9 rating/24 share (#1)
The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS) – 8 p.m.
Viewers: 7.32 million (#2), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#2)
Gary Unmarried (CBS) – 8:30 p.m.
Viewers: 7.26 million (#2), A18-49: 2.1/ 5 (#2t)
Lost R (ABC)
Viewers: 5.57 million (#3), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#3)
Knight Rider (NBC)
Viewers: 5.49 million (#4), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#4)
Privileged R (CW)
Viewers: 857,000 (#5), A18-49: 0.3/ 1 (#5)
While no show in this hour can compete with American Idol, Gary Unmarried’s compatibility out of The New Adventures of Old Christine is still positive to make not of.
Leadership was mixed in the 9 p.m. between ABC’s still potent Lost and CBS’ underrated Criminal Minds. Fox’s competing Lie To Me completely squandered the support out of American Idol, meanwhile, with retention of just 46 percent in total viewers and 47 percent among adults 18-49. Take a look:
Wednesday 9 p.m.
Criminal Minds (CBS)
Viewers: 14.96 million (#1), A18-49: 3.7/ 9 (#3)
Lost (ABC)
Viewers: 11.27 million (#2), A18-49: 5.1/12 (#1)
Lie To Me (Fox)
Viewers: 11.21 million (#3), A18-49: 4.2/10 (#2)
Does anyone know what the heck is happening on Lost? I certainly don’t.
Also in the hour was NBC’s dying Life (Viewers: #4, 5.16 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 4) and a repeat of the CW’s 90210 (Viewers: #5, 773,000; A18-49: #5, 0.3/ 1), which is only airing in encores to fill up the hour.
CBS led the 10 p.m. hour care of established CSI: NY, with 12.35 million viewers and a 3.0/ 8 among adults 18-49. Also present was NBC’s veteran Law & Order (Viewers: #2, 7.15 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.1/ 6), which is a shell of its former self in terms of the ratings, and ABC’s freshman Life on Mars (Viewers: #3, 5.27 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.1/ 6). Nice try ABC, but Life on Mars is just not working.
