This is the exact problem that the two networks face. People make claims about how they would get viewers if they had entertaining shows, but the simple fact is that the majority of TV viewers never tune in to the channels, so they never find out what kind of programs are on them. These fledgling networks cannot even get the attention that is given to many of the cable nets. Take a show like Reaper for example. It is very similar to(although better than) the USA Network show Psych. The challenge for CW is to get viewers to ever sample the show and find out that it is better than the cable net show those same viewers are more willing ot sample.
If CW could find one show with a big viewer pull, I am quite sure that the rest of their shows would all rise with the exposure.

If you have direct tv, the CW and MNTV don't appear with the others on the channel guide. In LA those two stations are available by their broadcast numbers (single digit, i think), but HD for the big 4 networks are channels 81, 83, 87, & 89. So when I flip on the guide to see what's on I never see those listings. I think this is in the process of changing and I will be using 2, 4, 7 & 11 for HD soon, therefore I may get more reminders of what's on those stations. I didn't even know MNTV existed until I read about it on this board and went looking into it. CW I knew as the bastard spawn of WB & UPN but I didn't pay much attention to it.
It's the same here in Canada. I don't think we have MNTV - at least I've never seen it - but on cable the main US networks are bunched together around channel 20 for western feeds and channel 85 for eastern feeds... Meanwhile you'll find both time feeds for CW around channel 60. Nowhere near either of the other network groupings. I never remember to go looking for it.

Like I've said, and many other board members, CW will most likely be off the air after Smallville and America's Next Top Model end.
They won't have anything.
But for now, why not air some CBS reruns? CSI: would do good.

well naturally...tis the land of "all hockey all the time" after all.

CW beating them is embarrassing.
The chimps are too busy out finding bananas in the cold winter to worry about ABC Friday nights. I mean what do you expect? They already took precious time finding a timeslot for Lost.

The CW is not alive only for Smallville and America's Next Top Model but also for One Tree Hill and SN. Probably Smallville and One Tree Hill will still be there next season (also because of the strike) but I believe that will be the last season for both the show. Then yes at the CW begin to be problems...

All this talk about where the CW and MyTV is located on cable and Sat. listings, yet there are dozens of Cable channels that regularly out perfom them and they are scattered all over the dial. Using Channel placement is a lame excuse for any network.
The simple fact is that neither networks really program shows that a large audience wants to view. The one thing MyTV can say is that it is growing from year to year.
But we do judge these two networks against the major networks as far as ratings go. A cable network calls shows hits that would be failures on networks. Curb Your Enthusiasm is one that comes to mind. Or Weeds. So these cable networks while not well placed on the dial get a critical hit and a million viewers and they are successes. Wouldn't Everybody Hates Chris' numbers be great on AMC, while Mad Men's numbers would be a flop on the CW?
