Overall CBS averaged a 6.9 rating/12 share in households, drawing about 1.5 million more viewers than NBC, 5.7/10. ABC, 4.2/7, finished third, and The CW (3.2/6) edged FOX (3.0/5) for fourth.
CBS also led among adults 18-49 with a 2.7 rating. NBC was not far behind at 2.5, and ABC came in third with a 2.0. FOX and The CW tied for fourth at 1.8.
"Ghost Whisperer" started the night for CBS with a 6.5/11 at 8 p.m. NBC grabbed second with "1 vs. 100," 5.8/10. A "Grey's Anatomy" rerun was third for ABC. FOX took fourth in households with "Nanny 911," 3.1/5, although the first hour of "Friday Night Smackdown!," 3.0/5, on The CW had a few more total viewers.
At 9 p.m., CBS' "Close to Home" built a little on its lead-in to finish with a 6.8/12. NBC stayed in second with "Las Vegas," 5.4/9. ABC got a 4.2/7 from "20/20," while "Smackdown!" improved to a 3.4/6 for The CW. FOX's "Trading Spouses" trailed.
"Numb3rs" completed the CBS sweep at 10 p.m. with a 7.3/13, the night's best rating. "Law & Order" posted a 5.9/10 for NBC, and a second hour of "20/20" averaged 4.6/8 for ABC.
Another good HH and demo score last night by The CW. That Smackdown is giving FOX problems on Friday.
After 23 days of sweeps, my numbers (re-adjusted for broadcast hours vs. nightly mean average reported previously) show CBS maintaining its lead, and likely to retain the Sweeps demo crown by the end of February:
1. CBS 5.2 (+39% vs 3.5 in 2006) 2. FOX 4.8 (-5% vs 5.1 in 2006) 3. ABC 3.5 (-33% vs 5.3 in 2006) 4. NBC 2.9 (-41% vs 4.9 in 2006) 5. The CW 1.3 (-11% vs 1.4 WB in 2006, +18% vs 1.1 UPN in 2006)
Very interesting to note that ABC and CBS have traded leadership position, just like they've traded average demo ratings levels (5.2 and 3.5) year over year...just like they traded the broadcast of the Super Bowl (ABC 28.7 demo vs. CBS 28.0)?
Of course, NBC 2006 results were skewed upwards by the Winter Olympics which averaged 12.2HH, 6.1 A18-49 over 54 hours (vs total 88 primetime hours in February sweeps).
I had a free moment folks, so here are the full Friday nationals. Household rating and share is first, followed by adult 18-49 rating and share and total viewers in millions.
Thank you for helping out, RadioTV2. Can you post the Saturday results that you find tomorrow? Thank you.
Wow Smackdown is beating Fox. This is amazing. And thank you Marc for posting the nationals. Have lots of fun in Florida, and say hi to mom for me lol. Marc you have to quickly label Smackdown as a winner, before they hound you about the rating.

Just came from the beach. Mid-70s and sunny. Not too bad! And, yes, Smackdown! would have been a winner if I was writing Monday's PI.

Well we have two inches of ice already and 8 to 12 inches of snow on the way in Iowa, not to mention the 30 mile an hour winds. Nice weather out there.

Actually, as far as I can tell, there was nothing "special" about Smackdown. Not even a championship match. That's impressive that they pulled these numbers without a big event.
Smackdown only hit 6 million in the final half hour. It averaged 5.3 million for the whole night, which btw, is still very good for a netlet like the CW on any night of the week.
8:00PM CW WWE Friday Night Smackdown! 2.9/ 5 -- 1.5/5 -- 4,538 8:30PM CW WWE Friday Night Smackdown! 3.2/ 5 -- 1.7/5 -- 5,311 9:00PM CW WWE Friday Night Smackdown! 3.3/ 6 -- 1.9/6 -- 5,647 9:30PM CW WWE Friday Night Smackdown! 3.5/ 6 -- 2.0/6 -- 6,031
Growth in every half hour. This is the highest rating for any show on CW this year (2007), right? I keep seeing people make claims that the CW needs an 'image' so they develop shows for the 18-34 teen soap market, but it look like the market that wants a station is the Smackdown type viewer.
I believe the Top Model finale did slightly better...The CW beat FOX in both households and viewers, only slightly behind in the demo. While the "Road to WrestleMania" certainly provides a boost for Smackdown!, it's one of the few bright spots on an otherwise dark network.
