That was 1996: the last time the Superbowl was held in Arizona.
I personally do not think the CW would be doing so badly if there was someone else who was the entertainment president of the network and knew what they were doing. That is just me.

To show you how clearly worried the big Four are that Girlfriends and The Game have a fresh episode for February sweeps.
Why are you asking 'the point'? I didn't ask 'the point' of your original 'pointless' reply. My original statement was simply a 'heads up' for fans of the two shows since it had been earlier reported in the press that those shows were out of new episodes due to the WGA strike.
I plan on watching the NAACP Awards. K-Ville got two nominations, best actor in drama series, Anthony Anderson and best drama series K-Ville. Hopefully Anthony can take it home as he deserves it. His acting is spot on.
Girlfriends will end on a high note then. I expect them to take best comedy series to honor their eight seasons.

Originally posted by Drew: But it's better to get the next year, after the buzz, because the buzz happened within the year of Fox having the Super Bowl. So with the buzz, and with NY and NE playing, next year will make the SB even bigger because of what happened this year. And to say how could it get better? Well are you asking as a fan of the NFL, because I have been rooting for NE to lose, so I didn't want them in the SB, and I wanted to GB to win because I hate Eli. But asking the NFL, they love it, and so will NBC, because they have next year's SB.
But the adertisers know that it will depend on the match-ups next year. If the Seahawks play the Bills in the Super Bowl next year look for more like 85 million viewers. (Still, huge because the NFL has done what the NBA and MLB don't, which is promote competative balance which leads to smaller markets still being able to draw high ratings). You are acting like the advertisers don't know and consider this already. This years buzz isn't going to make much of a difference next year when you are talking about the biggest buzz event TV to begin with.
Usually the Super Bowl is sold out way before the playoffs even begin, let alone when the SB matchups have been set.
I know the ad rates are set long before the Super Bowl. What I meant was that the advertisers are aware that the numbers will probably be lower next season so they are not going to be taken to the cleaners (any more than they are now) just if this years game is higher rated than the past few.

Super Bowls have always been the top with a general Trend upwards
Looking at that list one can see part of the reason why the NFL has no equal. The second highest rated game was Pittsburgh vs. Seattle, two of the smallest markets in the league. Yes, as with this year, it usually helps to have the biggest market teams, but even the small markets can deliver killer ratings. While MLB and the NBA pray for big market teams to make it to their finals, the NFL has wisely promoted a competitive balance that assures no matter the market size of the teams the ratings will be more than fine. Heck, if the Spurs were in the NFL, they would be revered for what they have done, and the ratings would reflect that.

yesterday's game did way better than last year and incredibly better than two years ago (43 and 35 millions respectively)
100 million might be possible
I expect the Super Bowl to crack 100 million with room to spare. Last night's game was an instant classic (albeit a depressing one for me) and with the Patriots going for an undefeated season, I expect the ratings to hit an all-time high.
So You are saying there were people that would not watch the Super Bowl at all, but will now because there is an undefeated team?
The Super Bowl is THE BIG TV Event of the year. It doesn't need anything extra to attract MORe viewers. People will watch the game who never watch football the rest of the year.
I don't agree, and what you say proves my point. The Super Bowl is not watched only by football fans, so many of the non-football fans watch depending on various factors. And buzz certinly is one of those factors. Also people are crazly atracted by records, and a team that might win all matches in a season might be a lifetime record. You might actually wanna see that knowing it's highly unlikely it'll happen again
