I don't think the TAR was a loser. Given the competition, I think Amazing Race held up well. Could ratings have been higher, sure. But when a sports special gets approximately 45 million and 38 share in the demo in that hour: 9.67m viewers and a 3.1 in the demo is not that bad. It's not that much lower than the rest of the season.
Bad luck with CBS deciding only to do one TAR this season. With the writer's strike, they could have definitely used it to fill holes.

I wish Gramps/Skippy would have won, but for a guy who is 69 yrs old he performed really well. I can't wait until the next season. BTW does anyone know what is going on with the next installment? Whether they are taping it yet or have done any casting.
The casting should be in its later rounds by now.
Since Keoghan was in New York for the TAR12 finale, they clearly aren't at the taping stage yet for 13.

Amazing Race was obviously hurt by playoff football and by the poor demo rated programs surrounding it. TAR had to carry CBS by itself in the 18-49.

IDK if it is luck that they have Idol and payed more money for the NFL than the GDP of some third world countries.
As for CBs they are in no more trouble than ABC and NBC. All the nets other than FOX are losing big time. Actually FOX is losing as well because of the strike. Imagine if FOX could combine these numbers with a full slate of House, Bones and 24. The strike really hurts the enrire industry.
Yeah but i was talking about CBS beacause they might have problems winning in total viewers. And i think they are lucky not only beacause the strike hurts all the other networks but also they're lucky beacause this football season has been very buzzed and that will make this SB to be probably the most watched ever

True, FOX was lucky to have the Super Bowl this year rahther than last or next season.
Really? Not have the Super Bowl next year? They already have the ad money for the commerical spots for this year. If anything, next year is the year to have the SB, you can raise the rates for ads based on this years buzz. So whoever has next years SB can raise it to a cool 3 mil for 30 seconds. And if it hits 100 million, that will help Fox, but CBS or NBC will reap the benifits for next year.
the cbs wiki site for TAR 13 says rumors are that TAR 13 will start filming in April or May. TAR seems to be always on the fence so perhaps, they had to wait for the renewal before they green lit anything. Plus, I believe with the writer's strike, they moved up TAR 12 from the spring.

Well i doubt next season will have this kind of buzz, in fact i think it's hard to imagine another season getting this buzz. Maybe CBS and NBC will benefit in the regular season, but on the long run i don't think it'll have any impact whatsoever. This was the perfect year to have the Super Bowl. And really that was a lottery, could've been any of the 3 networks and the luck fell on FOX
And you talk about money profit, but you have to admit being the network with the most watched broadcast is something to brag about
Next year doesn't need this kind of buzz, it all depends on what happens this year, they won't go into next year with the same 2.7 mil for 30 seconds. Since this year's buzz made it huge, that means next year will command bigger ad dollars. Next year doesn't need this buzz, it can be a dull season next year, people will still watch the SB, just for the commericals, and that is where the money, and my argument lie.
