That's really unfortunate about Life on Mars. I haven't seen episode two but it was probably one of the most enjoyable cop drama pilots I had seen in the past 5 years. Just a shame people would rather watch 11th Hour, which sucked 15 minutes of my life away last week. Now's the opportunity for ABC to move PP to Thursdays and perhaps Life on Mars to Tuesdays?

I am wondering if some people who watched LOM last week wanted to just give EH a chance this week to try and see which show they would rather watch live and which show they would rather record.
That's a big problem for LoM if EH improved, quality-wise, from its (clearly bad) Pilot: CSI is a bigger and more compatible lead-in than "Grey's Anatomy" for two competing crime(ish) dramas.
I am always loathe to blame another program (unless it's a premiere or huge special) for a show's ratings collapse, but I wonder if Maura Tierney leaving ER stole female viewers away? If EH is more male-skewing, it wouldn't have been affected as much.
Week two of ABC’s Life on Mars (Viewers: #3, 8.47 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 7) was not as fortunate, dipping by a significant 2.86 million viewers (11.33 to 8.47 million) and 27 percent in the demo (3.7/10 to 2.7/ 7) from one week earlier. Also concerning for Life on Mars was a loss in the second half-hour of 1.42 million viewers (9.18 to 7.76) and 20 percent among adults 18-49 (3.0/ 8 to 2.4/ 7). It looks like the 1970s is not so cool after all.
UGH! So the horrible Eleventh Hour grows but this great show crashes? Sick of CBS's shows winning everywhere regardless.
I absolutely agree ... especially that last part. It's strange to me that CBS's shows always do so well, but I can never get into any of them (although I have recorded The Ex List as it sounds interesting, but have yet to watch any of the episodes).
ER (NBC) Viewers: 8.81 million (#2), A18-49: 3.5/10 (#1)
Source: Nielsen Media Research data
I was hoping ER would do around 9.5-10 million for Abby's last episode. However, #2 in total viewers and #1 in A18-49 isn't too bad. Everything is relative, right?
While ER is still one of the highest rated shows on NBC's Thursday night schedule, it recalls the days when Friends, ER, and Seinfeld were taking in 20-25 million plus viewers! How things have changed!
Did anyone else watch ER? The scene with the name plates was really well done. Knight, Del Amico, Hathaway, Benton...etc, etc. (If you didn't catch it, I'm sure it will be up on youtube or something).
Some great memories with this show. I can't believe that I've been watching it since I was in 7th grade and now I'm in grad school!
The real story from last night was the back to reality numbers for CSI. Yikes that's a drop week to week. Greys did about as expected and while Marc thinks its great to comment on Ugly Betty's predictable decline, he says virtually nothing about how far My Name is Earl has fallen. That show used to bring in more than twice as many viewers. Smallville may aging, but that at least is aging nicely for Cdub. As is Survivor. SNL Live and ER also took week to week tumbles. I saw Fox had given Hole in the Wall some promotion this past week. Time to cut their losses there and with Til Death and move KN to Wednesdays at 9. Thursdays can see 5th Grader and Lyrics return and Fridays can be burnoff of Til Death and the reality shows (HITW or MOT) or movies.

I think this gives what I said about people giving a show a second week when after watching it the first week when they just weren't sure a more valid point.

I think you have a good point here. I am a 40-year old female and although I didn't watch ER, I did record it because I wanted to see Abby's goodbye. Like I said before, I think next week everything will shake out a little bit more and we'll have more of a feeling which show is doing better (I really hope LOM, because it is one of favorites). I think another good point regarding "ER" is that it is in its last season and shows that have a long history like it usually tend to do a little bit better when people know the end is near (which wouldn't be good for LOM either because then some people may stay away all season).
I'm really curious to see what the DVR numbers will be for LOM and how many plays it is getting on abc.com and downloads it is getting at ITunes.
Ouch for ABC. They really needed Life on Mars to be a hit, and apparently it isn't (and the numbers will look even worse in the finals). Grey's did rebound slightly from their drop last week, but not much.
Add that to the problems they have on Wednesday and Friday, the low return for Eli Stone, and the drops for their Sunday shows, ABC is not in a good position right now.
CSI, of course, had a major drop from last week, but after a cliff-hanger, that should be expected. These numbers are still up from where it was last spring and it was down to 19 mill a few times last fall, so it's not down significantly overall in viewers. Demo is another matter, it was getting mid-lower 6's last fall.
The fact that 11th Hour actually went up in viewers from it's premiere is positive for CBS. The show has potential (I like Rufus Sewell's portrayal of Dr. Hood, and I think the concept is good), but right now, it's really boring.
Kath and Kim needs to be cancelled. Those numbers are really low. I think everyone predicted it but there's no way NBC is going to deal with a comedy that is going to dip below 6 million in viewership. There's a huge chance that this comedy is 3 and out.
Life On Mars came in really low. ABC just can't catch a break. The good news is that it isn't tanking as much as other dramas. They will take a 2.7 demo if they believe they can grow it. As for mid-season, I don't see ABC getting any better. Cupid seems limited in its audience. Castle is their best bet but it could fall flat. The Unusuals sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
Ugly Betty is way too low again and if ABC wasn't in the state its in, this would be its last season.
FOX Thursdays are way too low. They aren't even competitive.
I'm shocked Eleventh Hour is growing after a pilot episode almost everyone hated. Is this just a case of CBS fans just not turning off the TV and watching anything?
EH grew from last week, even though CSI had 5 million less viewers. That's significant. I did notice they did a much better job of explaining the EH premise on CSI with tighter promos.
