Once again, Scrubs lands in the loser’s circle.

Scrubs is definitely a loser, but at least it improved upon last week's NBC lineup of 30 Rock/Scrubs.

Grey’s Anatomy
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 20.79 million, A18-49: 8.7/23
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 21.48 million, A18-49: 9.1/23
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 20.93 million, A18-49: 9.1/24
10:30 p.m. Viewers: 20.67 million, A18-49: 9.1/25

The numbers are lower than I expected, but then again, the dropoff in the second hour is less than I expected. I'm surprised more people didn't tune out the second half altogether.

Also in the hour was the season-finale of CBS’ Shark (Viewers: #2, 12.66 million; A18-49: #2t, 3.2/ 9) and NBC’s deteriorating ER (Viewers: 8.02 million; A18-49: #2t, 3.2/ 9).

The 'deteriorating' ER tied Shark in the demo and did it while Shark was having a season finale and Grey's Anatomy was sneaking into the mix. I would think that there are a whole lot more GA/ER viewers than GA/Shark viewers. I think ER did ok, all things considered.

Given that it seems the CW will also cancel Veronica Mars as well, the CW now has to start FRESH on both Sundays and Tuesdays....

I propose moving Supernatural away from Thursdays to spread the wealth and help a new show get sampled...I see Supernatural on Tuesday nights. But I'm still not convinced that it's strong enough to anchor, as we saw last year with One Tree Hill on the WB Wednesday.

I don't buy that the lead in is the reason ER keeps hitting record lows almost weekly. ER has always been on Thursdays at 10 since 1994. So if people want to see it that badly they will. It's not like it keeps moving timeslots like other shows on NBC do.

I was actually expecting more people to stick around at 10...I thought that the 10:00 half hour would have the most viewers.

I'll add in a request for viewer numbers for the GOP debate. Will it have the same following as the Dem debate?

The CW should move Supernatural to Tuesdays next year...since both Gilmore and Veronica will probably be gone....and put the new promising series "Reaper" on Thursdays at 9 after Smallville.

Surprised with all the hype of GA, that it didn't do better -- especially at 10 against weaker competition. Usually two-hour episodes, pick up steam in second hour. Even though it's down, CSI is still hanging. Let's see where GA is in year 7....

Nice to see Betty back up this week:

Last week: Viewers: #3, 9.56 million; A18-49: #4, 3.1/ 9
This week: Viewers: 10.71 million viewers and a 3.6/11 among adults 18-49

I can guarantee you that GA will not have near 20 million in year 7. Wink

I'm guessing Betty had some pre-tune in for the big Grey's event. After all, its 1st hour was the strongest.

Grey's had pretty much the same numbers as last week so Betty's growth from last week has nothing to do with Grey's

Weak number for CSI for sure. I think last week it went up pretty good when the finals came out, but still not great news for CBS. CBS's shows just don't bounce at the end of the year.

Now the question for CBS; does Shark deserve another year after CSI, or do you try and launch a new show while CSI still has the fuel to do so?

Actually Grey's was up over last week by about a million, when it lost to CSI in total viewers. I don't think all of Betty's increase can be attributed to that however. Its competition was basically identical but it looks like 5th grader lost over a million from last week's numbers.

Grey's first hour was up almost 1.5 million from last Thursday. And also given the hype of this "spinoff setup", which I personally couldn't stop hearing women talk about yesterday at work, I'm guessing many were excited to see it start.

I'm not saying Betty didn't rise on its own - it was a great episode - but Grey's absolutely (as it does every week) offer some extra viewers in the second half hour for pre-tunein.
