I have a feeling you are going to see a lot of reality and their dramas/comedies will mostly be brand new ones that they have existing pilots for. NBC is going to cut a lot of their older shows. Law and Orders (all of them), Medium is probably spared but the rest is going under the firing squad.

I believe that they have openly talked about all reality from 8-9 Mon thru Fri.

Originally posted by Justin: CBS could probably go a whole year or even more with the strike. Just air some CSI:'s and Two and a Half Men's, and throw in NCIS's, with Survivor and Big Brother and they're fine.
Wrong. After several weeks of reruns, the ratings for these programs decline significantly. Just lookat some of lastsummer's numbers for CBS. After a while, even older viewers with poor memories start to catch on to the fact that they're getting nothing but reruns, and they start tuning out. Once we reach, say, March or April, with this glut of reruns, CBS's biggest scripted programs will start sinking to a 2.0-2.4 in the demo every week (or 1.5 for NCIS). The "Survivor" lead-in will boost the "CSI" numbers a smidgen, though.

Why on earth would NBC cut L&O:SVU and L&O? They are two of their highest rated shows. That would make no sense for any network, even NBC. I'm not understanding how you are coming to that conclusion.

I think you are 100% right.
And to make matters worse, they dont really have a show to use as a lead-in for Chuck.
If Chuck was on any other network it probably would have been a big hit.
But, if my job was on the line, I would put Chuck on at 8pm on Tuesdy (although that would mean you would have to move it again or just have it get destroyed by American Idol in spring/2009..
I said that the Law and Orders would likely be spared, meaning not cut. Same with Medium. The rest of their dramas are all not guarenteed to come back to slumping ratings (in fact, my guess is almost all of them won't). For comedies, only the Office I would say is a sure thing. Then of course DOND and AG will be kept. NBC has been the most aggressive in changing their structure during the strike, I'd expect them to follow through with that in their Fall 08 lineup.

I guess you don't watch much NBC. Those annoying turds Zachary Levi and Josh Gomez were all over it, promoting the hell out of the time change.

Of course Chuck's numbers went down. They randomly put the 2 unaired episodes on a night it has never been on before without first airing repeats or really hyping it up, and last night is what was bound to happen.
Every single person who makes decisions for NBC needs to be fired and replaced with someone else with creativity and intelligence.
The sad thing is, that NBC being as pathetic as they are, they might take the numbers from last night at face value without realizing they are to blame for the numbers and cancel the show..
Why blame NBC? Why not blame the stupid fans who kept going, "Put it on Thursday! Put it on Thursday! Kick '30 Rock' off Thursday! Put it there! Put it there!" If the numbers were bad, serves them right.
So, its the fans fault that randomly the show gets put on thursday night (not back-to-back) without ever telling the fans?
There was never 1 repeat aired on thursdays, there were no promos that I heard about it, nothing. If I didnt like the show, and actually go out and find out when the episodes were on, I would have had no clue they aired yesterday.
So, like is always the key for any show, people have to know when the show is going to be on, and I really dont think people knew Chuck was on last night...

He's right they were on a lot promoting it. I think the problem is it's harder to get good ratings for just one night then over a season of the same slot.
While watcing the Celebrity Apprentice, they ran Chuck ads every five minutes. The low ratings were not a result of a lack of promotion.

ABC needs help and one show won't cut it. The network can't survive on DWTS. It at least needs Desperate Housewives back, it's #1 scripted show.
Not being a LOST fan and being a big CSI fan, I fully expect LOST to win every week against CSI. But CSI will still hold strong with its repeats.
CSI: NY nearly always beat Lost when they were both new, and repeats of CSI get more viewers than original episodes of NY were getting last Spring. I think CSI repeats can beat new episodes of Lost unless Lost gets a significant jump in viewers.
I'm sorry, but there is no way repeats of CSI are going to beat new episodes on the only remaining must-see scripted show with new stuff. LOST is getting high internet buzz, its commercials rock, JJ Abrams' new big screen movie Cloverfield is killing at the box office, and there will be 3 hours of special LOST programming leading up to its premiere next Thursday. I think LOST will open with at least 18 million viewers, but even if it underperforms, 14 million is its floor. Plus it will certainly get more than the 3.3 demo rating that CSI rerun got. LOST got around a 6 or 7 rating in the demo...
I think Earl is a sure thing and 30 rock is almost a sure thing especially without a development season

Uh-Oh! It appears whatsonpop was reading to quickly while at work! My apologies. I agree with most of what your saying, but I feel highly confident that 30 Rock will be back as well. NBC loves this show. And it gives them a pedigree show to balance out all the AG, DOND, and other reality.

As much as I'd like it to happen I don't think Lost numbers are suddenly going to go up to 18 million again, a more realistic estimate is 13-14 million for the premiere with a 6ish in the demo and around 12 million and 5+ in the demo for regular episode. Cloverfield = The greatest monster movie in the history of movies! JJ is brilliant.
No problem. I misread posts all the time. Sometimes they just all blend together.

I think with the strike and the fact that Lost fans have waited so long to see Lost again, you might see a little increase. I'm thinking something around 15 to 16 million. You are right, I don't see 18 million in its future.
