Well, DH has only had 2 reruns in that slot. The Grey's new averages about 21-22 million and the repeats average around 10-11 in that slot. So Greys has had about 12 new, 5 repeat (maybe 13/4), hence the 18 mil average. My guess is that CSI will finish 3rd, Grey's 4th and DH 5th (with more repeats coming up).
I would have liked to see Veronica do a bit better (like 3.5-3.75M), but as long as it stays above 3M, I'm happy. That should be enough to keep it around. It'll be interesting to see if the inclusion of the college ratings change anything.
I really liked last night's episode by the way.
Oh and another thing. Ratings are odd sometimes. How could it increase 10% among households (2.0 to 2.2) but lose viewers (3.44M to 3.29M)? How does that work exactly?
Do they figure how many viewers are watching by estimating the number from the households watching? Strange.

I dont understand all this animosity towards Veronica Mars. Its an excellent show and deserves a 4th season. Hell, everything on the CW should be renewed because it can always get worse. Its better for them to keep some veteran shows on this fledgling network because even though the fan base is small for shows like OTH, VM, and Supernatural there are in fact fan bases for those shows. Just look at how long Runaway lasted and I know the new show in the comedy block on mondays is not doing fabulous).
If Veronica Mars can keep these numbers then it should be fine for next season. The CW has bigger holes to fill such as Monday from 8:30 to 10 and Sunday at 7:00 and 9:00.
A lot of it probably has to do with many of its fans being so forceful in their desire for others to watch the show.
I hate it when someone tells me what to watch. "Watch this show!, it's the best thing EVER!". It turns me off, and raises my expectations much too high.
I only started watching Veronica Mars last year, after getting it on DVD for a good price. I wasn't too impressed with the pilot (I expected much more), but it slowly developed and has become one of my favorites.
And for those interested, Veronica Mars is now averaging more than 3M viewers per week (up till the last episode it was at 2.99M).
It's only slightly below where it was after 10 episodes during season 2 (3.04M to 3.02M) and well ahead of its first season (2.60M to 3.02M).

Yah but despite week ratings Bush got a 4-year renewal in 2004. GG and VM are not so lucky.

I guess I watch it because it helps them with the ratings
Not if you're not a member of either the local or national sample, it doesn't...
VM's ratings last night are an anomaly either way. It had no regularly scheduled competition to speak of. Next week, the real battle begins...
I'm also of the mindset that VM won't get a fourth season, because when you're trying to launch a network, why bring back an average-rated show that's probably gotten as many viewers as it's ever going to get -- vs. taking a chance with a new show? No network ever increased their profile with a four-year old series, y'know?
I also think the shows CW brings back better be the kind that can be splashed all over a Powerpoint at the Upfront with a bunch of #1s (or #2s) in a time period for a specific demo. I just...do not see VM as that type of show...
Speaking of Everwood: TV Guide is reporting that Emily VanCamp has just joined the cast of Brothers & Sisters (as the half-sister), which in my opinion is pretty fantastic!!
I just started watching Everwood courtesy of ABC Family and the show definitely lived up to all the hype that it got!!

I am dissapointed in the ratings for GG and VM but I have to say, I loved last night's GG. This season has been a bit rough but last nights was soo good
i'm a VM fan, and i was expecting better ratings. but VM will never be a hit show. it is too different from other shows, and doesn't really fit in with any genre. it has huge mystery arcs, which causes people to think, and most teens don't connect with the the mystery arcs, but at the same time adults can't connect with the young heroine and other characters of the show. and the look of the show is very different. so no matter how good the content of VM is, only a small few can really relate to it. and i'm glad i'm one of them.
and as for GG i think last night's episode was the best episode in a long time... it actually had a story line with some of the minor characters like lane and the band. and i think the lorelai and rory wit was back. the cw said that the second half would be much better creatively so hopefully they can continue this and not suck it up like the first half did
didn't will and grace's ratings go up alot during their fourth season?

interesting move... "Operation: Fighting Shape" - After the Knights cleverly solve the problem of getting past the thumbprint sensor outside Mick Jagger's front door, they determine that more physical force may be necessary to challenge the burly armed guards who defend his home. Esperanza meets the problem head-on, hiring "world famous self defense and security expert" Hawthorne Jansen to teach the gang the tricks of the trade. However, not only is the hunky instructor intent on exposing Eugene's and group's weaknesses, he has set his sights on Esperanza, much to Eugene's dismay, on "The Knights of Prosperity," TUESDAY, JANUARY 30 (9:30-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD 1/17/07)
Editors note: This program replaces "Big Day: The $10,000 Gift." The "Big Day" episode immediately preceding this program, entitled "The Ceremony," will now be the Season Finale for that series.

It was right after 9/11 and Friends' ratings blew through the roof (people wanted to laugh, I suppose), and W&G was later that evening in the line-up... so I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes it has been AWFUL. I, too, was a longtime devoted fan of this show but I finally threw in the towel around the 2nd or 3rd episode of this season. I disagree with the opinions that the Christopher-Lorelai storyline ruined the show. I was barely hanging on through last year's drivel of Lorelai losing all of her strong, opinionated personality and taking a back seat to her own relationship with Luke. I also hated the Rory leaves Yale but keeps her lame boyfriend arc. But above all, what really destroyed this show for me was the loss of the wittiness that GG used to have in its fast, fun dialogue.
