A few years ago NBC had a neat little SCI FI show called SURFACE...it's ratings were a lot better than most of what they've got on today where they would renew a show likE PARKS & REC with the meagerest of ratings..and yet they cancelled SURFACE...I'm enjoying laughing at them now. That show was a keeper...they didn't even try to find a better slot than Mondays at 8pm.
Every year it amazes me that the ratings WORLD SERIES gets...people really do get worked up over a group of millionaires in pinstrip bating a ball around.
Okay, let's add "Surface" to the list of "Shows that could have saved NBC if they'd only let them."
I think Surface was down big year to year if I recall in that time slot, but they probably still prematurely killed it. NBC sure does have a list though of shows they prematurely killed off with stupid scheduling moves. Chalk up many of them under Kevin Reilly's name, who hated his predecessor's shows (and moved most of them to face Idol or Friday) and then couldn't figure out how to schedule his new shows either. A teen drama about football on a Friday night against high school football. Real smart scheduling there I tell ya. Or how about a hip younger skewing show set in Vegas on a Friday? Again, another genius move. Or how about two perfect Friday options in Crossing Jordan and Criminal Intent and then decide to air two Law and Orders back to back on Tuesday (with no lead in I might add) and hold off Crossing Jordan until Idol was ready to kill it off on Wednesday. Medium to Wednesday against Lost was another real winner of a move. The original Law and Order being uprooted and moved to Friday (3 seasons ago) also knocked some wind out of it too.

Fits of overenthusiasm?
Noone, probably on the entire internet, has done more to raise the profile of this ordinary show than yourself. Hopefully your tireless razzing is done tongue in cheek, because you have otherwise elevated it to a "royal" status it clearly does not deserve, at least in terms of the number of keystrokes devoted to it.
Let dippish keep on typing Bruce. He's already been dealt a blow in a full season renewal. Now all I need is for a few more Tuesday-Wednesday 10pm performers to flop and Castle will be smooth sailing to season three!
Like even that would stop me. If it goes to a full season four, I might start getting mildly discouraged. But boy, are you counting unhatched chickens like the dickens.
I'm not the one who put my eggs in the Fringe basket and am now trying to sell them off like hot cakes!
mushu, would you care to go over all YOUR broken eggs, hmmm?
I haven't started liking Greys because it's kicking ass again. I wouldn't have enjoyed this season of Fringe to date if it had gotten more viewers than Greys and CSI combined.
And whatever happens with Castle, I've got plenty of fun coming up this season. Some of it with you.
CBS Needs to blow up Sunday nights (8pm - 11pm) I don't think we'll see a second TAR this year and 3 Rivers sucks and CC is well past its time.
Trying a Sunday Block on Sundays is the most logical spot, without disrupting the rest of the schedule

Then in March, AOP can end early, and either ROE can take over the Monday 8:30 slot, returning GU to Wednesdays, or GU can go to Mondays at 8:30.

Hmm, a 2 hour comedy block on Wednesday with the CM 2 hour block (old and new) on Sundays. Certainly sounds simple enough if you ask me. Gear up BBT, Wed. at 9pm could soon be your new home next year!
(just to note- I would absolutely hate this move and think it would create too much comedy on Wednesday with Glee and ABC airing comedies)

As much as it's argued, I don't think comedies will move to Sundays. CBS seems like they are against that idea as the opportunity has presented itself before. CM and its spinoff (which is in my mind a lock) would have to move then which leads into an interesting scheduling scenario for next year. I think CBS would want to keep them together which means they'll likely be Tuesday bound, moving out NCIS: LA and TGW. I don't think they'll place them on Sundays because of the timeshifting with football overruns.

CBS will not move CM from its time slot. It does TOO well to move for unproven comedies.

Does anybody know if a second round of TAR was ordered for this year? Its numbers are as good as Survivor's these days. Why can't it be treated with the same level of respect?

Dollhouse: the one show I would really enjoy watching you destroy while it destroys itself. I suppose its too easy for you since its practically cancelled with that whole wrap up planned and all.
It just as well be Rules since it would call for less shows to move around, but I wouldn't mind seeing Gary have a lead in for once.

I think they would if they felt that CBS had something that was comperable. However, I think the bigger problem is CBS wouldn't want to schedule CM or its spinoff on Sundays where it gets timeshift by a half hour or 45 minutes for most of the first 13 episodes. It will throw both shows off and could ruin its potential ratings.

Yeah, it's a bit of a barrel o' fish thingy.
Castle is so well-protected now--(unlike Fringe)--much more of a challenge.
Seriously, though--what was so bad about my saying 'wait for the finals'? When we've seen drops of over half a point, how can that be anything other than good helpful advice?

While Old Christine isn't exactly a self starter, it usually manages to find more viewers than GU, even when its timeslot has a lower HUT level than GU's does. On the other hand, GU has a slightly younger demo. Nonetheless, GU will never be a hit, and I can't see it lasting past this season (unless, of course, CBS is dedicated to the idea of 4 hours of comedy)

I think CBS would definitely move Criminal Minds from 9pm. Why else would they keep around a low rated comedy hour for 2 years? Clearly they want comedy on Wednesdays, and this hour is just placeholder to build on, most likely for next season. Even if ABC does end up keeping Modern Family Wednesdays at 9pm for next season, CBS could move a show like Two and a Half Men to Wednesdays at 9pm and crush it.
Meanwhile, Criminal Minds has always seemed like a 10pm show to me. Why not move it there, and bump CSI:NY (which is certainly aging) to Sundays to air with Cold Case? CSI:NY would maintain all of its audience and help out Cold Case.

CBS would be foolish not to order a 2nd round of Amazing Race. It's ratings are so far fantastic this season. And like you said, it's sadly not a far cry off from Survivors numbers anymore.
