Look for Comcast to axe him if/when they takeover NBCU... unless his contract is just too big to eat with no return.

Fits of overenthusiasm?

Noone, probably on the entire internet, has done more to raise the profile of this ordinary show than yourself. Hopefully your tireless razzing is done tongue in cheek, because you have otherwise elevated it to a "royal" status it clearly does not deserve, at least in terms of the number of keystrokes devoted to it.

Let dippish keep on typing Bruce. He's already been dealt a blow in a full season renewal. Now all I need is for a few more Tuesday-Wednesday 10pm performers to flop and Castle will be smooth sailing to season three! Big Grin

Meanwhile, anyone else find it interesting how Heroes and Trauma saw upticks this week? Also noteworthy to point out that Trauma pulled in the same demo that Mercy has so far averaged, with a little over a million less viewers. Perhaps NBC would have been wise to go with Trauma at 8pm Wednesday, axing Mercy?

And those are just sad numbers for Jay Leno. It's a shame, too, because last night's episode was one of the funniest and most enjoyable in awhile. Perhaps baseball hurt it, but it should be doing much better than this.

I don't know - last night's episode was actually very good. When for some reason the show has seemed "messy" to me lately, last night's episode was funny, fresh, and well-done. It's too bad ratings don't show that, though.

And pisher, I agree on BBT - last night's episode could just about be the worst of the season. I didn't laugh once at it last night.

Maybe they're looking at the two hours differently than you are, rightly or wrongly.

Maybe they figure Trauma wouldn't attract a fly if it had to self start, and perhaps when they look around at the overall dormancy of the 8pm wed hour they figure the Mercy numbers aren't that bad.

I highly doubt that. NBC is in such a disaster mode, they don't have 5 hours of shows to fill that slot. They may however, start to phase him out gradually. Drop him down to nights like Monday and Friday or Wednesday and Friday, etc. Or they could do the creatively wise thing and move him back to 11:35 where he belongs. Conan can then be given the choice of going bye bye or going to 12:35. If Conan says bye bye (which he would), I would then begin a hot pursuit of Jon Stewart or Kimmel to take over Tonight long term. Jimmy Fallon can go back to SNL or perhaps join one of their prime time comedies. He's absolutely awful in late night.

Like even that would stop me. If it goes to a full season four, I might start getting mildly discouraged. But boy, are you counting unhatched chickens like the dickens. Big Grin

The 2.1 demo is its highest since the series premiere, but I'm guessing it comes down to cost. As its been said Trauma has an expensive price tag, while I'm guessing Mercy is cheaper. Still, NBC should have given Trauma a bit more time if those numbers hold in the finals.

I agree that ROE would do better, and is a better fit for the night, but AOP's moderate success on the night might keep it there for the season.

Then, what would CBS do with 3 sitcoms, but one hour available on wednesdays?

Does CBS have any other comedies for mid-season?

Can't really expect anyone to invest in TRAUMA now knowing it was cancelled.

A few years ago NBC had a neat little SCI FI show called SURFACE...it's ratings were a lot better than most of what they've got on today where they would renew a show likE PARKS & REC
with the meagerest of ratings..and yet they cancelled SURFACE...I'm enjoying laughing at them now. That show was a keeper...they didn't even try to find a better slot than Mondays at 8pm.

Every year it amazes me that the ratings WORLD SERIES gets...people really do get worked up over a group of millionaires in pinstrip bating a ball around.

Why can't Rules play musical time slot chairs and move around the schedule? It could replace AOP for a few weeks, HIMYM for a few week, Christine for a few weeks, and Gary for a few weeks. Its clear CBS has something against the show to begin with so why not just use it as a true utility player? I would argue that unless there's a time slot available for 22 eps next season, Rules is a goner. CBS for some reason just doesn't like the show (nor do I). Wink

As far as I know, it's just ROE. They do have Undercover Boss which is a reality show, but probably has comedic elements to it.

Even if it is, I don't see much of a change in CBS' numbers. Atlanta is not a great sports town

Okay, let's add "Surface" to the list of "Shows that could have saved NBC if they'd only let them."
