Pisher... that may be one of the most enjoyable (and telling) posts I've read from you!

Maybe we should just wait a few weeks... months... or even years... because no matter how long Castle is on the air, it will always be a failure, right? Roll Eyes

Hell, it was a failure the moment they cast Fillion. And has never ONCE gotten a decent retention rate out of its lead-in. But I understand your standards are lower, a-mad. To watch that thing, they'd kinda have to be. Smiler

You've just blocked out the day I said "wait for the finals" and it turned out the finals were WAYYYY lower, haven't you.

But when you compare the shows side by side, GG's 1.0 in the demo is not far off Leno's 1.3 demo rating.

The CW shows are supposed to have bad ratings. To Have Leno only JUST above them is bad.

GG's numbers are pathetic. Now that's a flop

Why do I get the feeling you're about to commit one this very second, Bruce?

I understand why CBS has been so hesitant on a renewal notice, it's a very tough call.

CBS needs to tris show on Wednesdays, because while it does deserve a full season, I believe Rules of Engagement could still pull better numbers in the Monday 8:30 slot.

I don't believe ABC had major preemptions last night so it shouldn't fall that much. Probably .1 or .2 in the demo and that's still up year to year over Boston Legal, which struggled to get to a 2.0 most weeks. Face it pisher, ABC is happy with the show's consistency and they'll likely give it the Bachelor for a lead in come January, meaning a higher demo lead in. That will only help things.

Some of the statements Leno gave to defend the ratings of his show:

quote:
"I've seen some articles that are a little more, 'It's not Jay's fault, its NBC's fault.'"

quote:
"I'm not here because the 10 PM period was widely successful. I'm here because nothing else was working."

quote:
"If [11:35 pm] were offered to me, would I take it? If that's what they wanted to do, sure."

quote:
"Lead-ins are important. On the nights when we have a strong lead-in, we are competitive; on the nights we don't, it's up to us to try and carry the ball ourselves.

I missed last nights episode, but it seems to be meshing well with the HIMYM lead in.

Why would CBS kill a promising show in AOP? They already know what they can get from Rules. Try that out on Wednesday if you feel the need to fix Wednesdays.

The baseball was down from Sunday but still did incredibly well, ABC and CBS did well against it although I believe CBS was prempted in Atlanta for MNF so that could affect the figures, if I’m not mistaken, HIMYM was up but I think that was due to no House. CSI: Miami was down due to baseball but the demo is better than CSI and CSI: NY.

One Tree Hill is doing better than the so called buzzed Gossip Girl but it’s likely to have been outdrawn by GG in the women 18-34 demo.

I am sure it took hit from baseball being on.
However, it would be no loss for me if the show tanked. Cool

Meanwhile, anyone else find it interesting how Heroes and Trauma saw upticks this week? Also noteworthy to point out that Trauma pulled in the same demo that Mercy has so far averaged, with a little over a million less viewers. Perhaps NBC would have been wise to go with Trauma at 8pm Wednesday, axing Mercy?

And those are just sad numbers for Jay Leno. It's a shame, too, because last night's episode was one of the funniest and most enjoyable in awhile. Perhaps baseball hurt it, but it should be doing much better than this.

So I've been less than crazy about this season of HIMYM, but last night's ep had me cracking up the whole way through.

Whereas, much as I loved the Trek ref in a recent BBT, last night's ep failed to get so much as a chuckle out of me. I finally gave up on it. I like the cast, but somehow the execution always comes across as flat. Of course, I never laughed at 2.5 Men either, and that was a much bigger hit in its prime.

Beware the CBS numbers are going to drop in the finals. They were preempted in Atlanta for football.

Looks like the World Series took a bite out of most shows last night other than NBC.

AOP has potential, but it's still losing from its lead-in in both viewers and demo. It might be a risk, but there's a possibility that AOP could bring some of its audience (and demo) to Wednesdays where it's needed. Meanwhile, Rules always has promise - it's just always been affected by the scheduling. I think if CBS were to put this on Mondays at 8pm, it could prove to be a better performer than AOP.

But, I'm just hypothesizing here. In realism, I doubt CBS would ever take that risk. AOP is doing fine where it is, so they'll probably air it there, while returning ROE somewhere to the schedule in March.

Trauma likely headed downward in the finals due to MNF preemptions, but if they hold, it would be tough for NBC to have known that the show would magically shoot upward past Mercy numbers when Mercy premiered better, dropped less in week 2, and continued to out-demo Trauma for the first five weeks of the season.

I retain my faith in the Fillion jinx.

Veronica Mars got three seasons. I trusted my instincts, and had faith in its sheer lameness. I play a very deep game, mushu.
