You've just blocked out the day I you said "wait for the finals" and it turned out the finals were WAYYYY lowerpretty much fast nationals, haven't you.

Cool

If this were Facebook, I would like this lol.

I'm so happy about the horrible retention of Cali out of Dexter, this barely even stings. A very minor setback, but since I actually admit when I'm wrong, here it is--I was wrong. About the demo going much below its current awful levels, which tvbythenumbers still says merits cancellation. Smiler

Castle's still getting horrible retention out of its lead-in, and is still going down, and is being temporarily bolstered by exiles from Leno--but since you don't CARE......Big Grin

OMG PISHER!!! Your so annoying and hypocritical!!! all you do is wait for the ratings to come out on shows you dont like and then you spend the entire day bitching about it!! we get it you dont like castle!!! Now STFU Already!!! i remember last year when the results for fringe airing post idol would come out and it would retain like 50% of its lead-in but you would still defend it!! Just read the data and shutup!

My mistake, but you're absolutely right. The Class was always a pretty weak show, though. Even if CBS had renewed it for a 2nd season, it wouldn't have gone anywhere. Instead, they're left with 2 low rated Wednesday comedies and AOP, which is kind of in a similar situation right now.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the Class was finally showing some signs of life towards the end of its shortened run. Creatively it was much much better towards the end and if I recall correctly, ratings were increasing some at that point. If it had those numbers on any other network, it would've been given a full season.

The CLASS was not a good show - it was a GREAT show and it did have very good ratings toward the end. I think some suit at CBS just hated the thing.

Speaking of dumb moves, one of the all time dumbest at NBC has to be when they shot JAG.

Do they realize that 14 years later, the spinoff NCIS is the #1 show on TV. 9 more years of JAG, NCIS going strong, and NCIS: LA off to a good start.

Yeah because obviously when CBS picked it up they had the foresight to see that JAG would last like 10 years and its spinoff would be currently the number one show on TV.

Roll Eyes

You know, CBS is stupid too. You know why? They passed on Law and Order. CBS is so stupid to have passed on one of the greatest and most profitable TV franchise like evers. And everyone passed on ER too.

But obviously the networks were just plain stupid right?

In all (More) seriousness, there is no way to know if JAG would have worked on NBC.

You do realize that there is a ignore function right?

I know that some of what pisher says can be gratings but no one forces you to read them. And no one forces you to comment on his comments.

But yeah, ignore function will work every time.

But when it comes to Pisher, it is all fun and games. I know I get a kick out of reading his posts a lot of the time.

For real right? This is the internet and they are so many, so many worse trolls out there. As least pisher can be funny. What is it that people say about pissy evil people? If they are funny, their pissiness and evilness is well justified. Not that I'm, calling pisher pissy or evil of course.

Wow, everything held up well in the face of World Series Baseball.

It speaks volumes for Heroes that one of its best post season 1 episodes was an episode dealing with a season 1 plotline. Oh the lightning they captured that first season...

Castle is very solid and its pretty fun to watch but it needs to boost its demo more if it wants to see a third season.

And who was it that compared Fillion to Campbell? No contest. Bruce hands down. Big Grin

WOW!
How soon before Leno pulls a sub 1.0 in the demo and under 3 million total viewers?

Would NBC even consider putting Jay back at 11:35 or would that be too big of a blunder to admit?

He's going nowhere, at least not this season. NBC needs to start focusing on the show itself and making sure its a quality product. Sweeps are going to hurt it too because he'll face higher profile stuff. NBC however, should learn from ABC and learn how to stunt themselves. Zucker used to know how to do this. Jay's true value in my mind is not going to be seen until everything is in repeats for long stretch of time (maybe even summer). Right now there's simply too much other programming for him to get much traction.

This I agree with - NBC has to start involving itself more in the actual product. When it's good, it's good, but when it's bad, it's obvious. NBC needs to sit down and work with Jay and the writers to pick out what's working and what's not and go from there. Putting the Headlines/Jaywalking and other comedy bits back after the monologue is a start. Those stupid comedian bits they now have after the monologue need to go for the most part. They need longer interviews with celebrities and more music.

I know they wanted to be different from the old Tonight Show, but at this point, they need to start going back in that direction, because that worked. What they have now just really isn't working.

I think if they had left it Tonight Show style and added NEW comedic elements at the end to replace an interview/musical guest it would've been doing 5 to 6 million and closer to a 2.0 demo on average every night. That would be much more acceptable. Now they're only getting that with the Biggest Loser as a lead in. And I think its worth mentioning again that sweeps are not going to be his strongest months. Summers may very well take that title to be honest. Perhaps they should consider preemptions on a few nights during sweeps for stunting. Don't be afraid to schedule a 2 hour special from 9 to 11.

So if I calculated correct

WORLD SERIES with Markets 1 + 7 with a 5.3/14 on a major broadcast network

REGULAR SEASON NFL game with markets 8 and 52 on a cable channel with a 5.1/13 share 18-49

As I said, Sunday's WORLD SERIES was overly inflated.

When as many people want to watch a regular season game between two southeast teams over a possible deciding game of the WORLD SERIES - MLB has a problem.

MLB's numbers dropped drastically after the Yankees started buying teams in the late 90's and has never recovered.

Perhaps even a simple formula switch from time to time would help. Not only has the show become boring, but it has become predictable. I know that I can shower or change the channel at 10:10 every time I watch it, or just when to hit the fastforward button when I DVR it. While the monologue has done an okay job at staying fresh, and the end segements are still fun, the middle is just blah, and I'm guessing that's when most people end up tuning out.

1995 Atlanta-Cleveland 28,970,000
1996 Yankees-Atlanta 25,720,000
1997 Florida-Cleveland 24,790,000
1998 Yankees-San Diego 20,340,000
1999 Yankees-Atlanta 23,731,000
2000 Yankees-Mets 18,081,000

From 1995 - the last season before the Yankees run - to their last World Series in 2000, the ratings plummeted 30% and have never recovered except for the 2004 spike when the Red Sox came back and spanked NY in the ALCS and went on to win the World Series.

Honestly, that was one of the worst science fiction shows I've ever seen in my life--I don't think even Joss Whedon could have done it that badly (though it sure made use of a lot of the same bad actors). It makes the original look like a classic Twilight Zone ep, and the original was a big piece of cheese--but at least it was ENTERTAINING cheese. This was so deadly dull, it was an ordeal to leave it on. Thank GOD for election coverage to switch over to.

Elizabeth Mitchell is totally wasted on this crap, and the sooner she's liberated from it, the better.
