I kind of understand why hell kitchen was a winner for the night but i don't think it deserves to be there! It's holding on to about 50 percent of the lead in viewers from american idol. It's the 18-49 that makes it a winner. I think Fox was stupid for putting this on after american idol. House last year was getting around 21 million viewers after american idol now it's below 15. They are making a stupid choice. B2U and TD did better ratings after american idol on wednesday.

Think fox should have kept Ai and House together! They would be doing better in viewers. They might have been number one in demo last week but number two to CBS in viewers. I think fox could have been number one if they would have just left Tuesday alone!

I think that CBS next year should try doing NCIS, Shark and than the unit at ten. I think all three shows could be pulling in over ten million with would let it kinda stand its own in the spring when AI is back.

All I can say for the CW is OMFG! What is this network thinking? If they cancel Reaper like some reports are saying they are making a huge mistake. The show is beating GG and GG started with a real lead in of ANTM! B&G was never a full time show. I think the network is giving up more and more every year.

I don't think it was THAT bad! He's definitely done worse performances. It wasn't as bad as Simon put it. Now, David Cook, was way off! I expected much more from him on Rock week. Syesha was good(and I liked how Simon felt compassion for her), and David A. finally won me over again! I was getting so sick of him, but his Love me tender was great. What can I say, I'm a romantic at heart! Big Grin His best performance since Imagine! David C. might have some competition after all! And if Jason isn't sent home tonight, there is something wrong with the voting people!

It was up against WMC and Friday Night Lights in the fall and got pretty much the same ratings. Granted, neither of those are powerhouses, but they were regular competition. Does the lack of competition affect the ratings now? Maybe, maybe not. But it's not like it's been against reruns it's entire run.

I wouldn't consider WMC to be similar skewing competition. The low rated guarantee sci fi fans are watching Moonlight and the older females are watching WMC. Friday Night Light's audience wasn't home on Fridays which is NBC's fault for even putting it there. Smackdown and the rotating Fox drama wheel wasn't much competition either.

My point wasn't that those shows were strong or similar-skewing competition, but Moonlight hasn't been up against "absolutely nothing" except cable for it's entire run. Twins12 claimed that "if the other networks ever programmed against ML its ratings would sink." The fact is, they did program against it with shows they expected (or hoped) would do well.

Like I said, if the other networks ever programmed against it... Wink

When WMC was up against it ML finished second in viewers. FNL is another one of these low rated , critically acclaimed waste of time that stays around because of the critical acclaim very similar to 30 Rock. I think Dateline NBC does as well against ML as FNL did.

Pavan's pretty good, but he knows much more about ABC than CBS.

Well, WaT is moving to Tuesdays during the summer (to give Swingtown the post-CSI slot), so it's not too much of a stretch to think it might stay there.

I like the Wednesday comedy hour, but I do question ROE as the lead-off.

I see little advantage about chat here or other forums, but places like TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly etc... do offer advantages and this show is on the radar of those publications. More than any other CBS shows.

People seem to be upset when anyone speaks positively as if everyone was some obsessed Moonlight fan. Honestly, I like the show, but I have enough TV shows out there that if it was cancelled, I'd not lose any sleep. So yammering on about it being cancelled is not going to upset me. It's an opinion and you're welcome to it just as I am mine. My gut is usually accurate, but no big deal if it's wrong this time.

Marc - this is a case of having to look beyond just the numbers in making predictions. I think that CBS enjoys all of the attention this show is giving them. The ratings are mediocre at best, but the show is talked about more than anything else they have now. CBS will not overlook that when making their renewal decisions. I most definitely would bet on this show returning (add to that that the storyline are getting better and better - particularly since returning from the strike.)

And what's the advantage CBS gets from the fact we talk here and on other forums or chat rooms about Moonlight?

Actually, the CBS schedule sounds pretty reasonable if you look at the whole schedule. The vast majority has said that 11th Hour, Mentalist, Tower, Exit 19, Public Journal, and Single White Millionaire will get picked up and all are listed as pick ups (either fall or mid-season). Holding Tower and Exit 19 back to mid-season ensures that they will have enough programming so that they don't have to rely on filler and repeats to get through the second half of the season. One complaint people had was that CBS didn't have enough mid-season material, now they do with these two shows and the possible addition of Christine. The only out of place thing is Can Openers Sunday at 9 but I expect by mid-season Cold Case and Tower will be paired at 9 and 10 on Sunday, if not sooner. Exit 19 can either replace the Mentalist or 11th Hour (which ever one does worse) or can help out a strugging older drama that has a sudden fall in the ratings.

Mediaweek is having website problems. Marc's column can be found HERE

Thank you for posting that. I have been scratching my head trying to sift thru the Mediaweek site looking for Marc's full column.

I don't care either way about Moonlight. If it comes back, maybe I'll keep watching, maybe not. I'm too episodes behind, so, it's not my biggest tv obsession! Same thing with Reaper (don't care either way), but I but still like Moonlight more. Reaper has better chances though.
