Oh no, you are going to get the Moonlight recruitees angry again. As I said before, there are loads of sci fi tinged projects in development at CBS. Moonlight isn't needed. This discussion should have ended days ago. quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: I think this chatroom is obsessed with Moonlight! If I had to predict, I don't think CBS will renew it.

If this would happen, then Ryan has to leave E! News or his radio job at least. Because he couldn't possibly juggle all the things he does now, Idol, On air with Ryan, American Top 40, E! News, his prod. comp AND Ryan Seacrast Live! (Larry King Live!). He already does so many things.
And to make matters worse it suck at every songle one of those jobs

The ratings are mediocre at best, but the show is talked about more than anything else they have now. CBS will not overlook that when making their renewal decisions. I most definitely would bet on this show returning (add to that that the storyline are getting better and better - particularly since returning from the strike.) quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: I think this chatroom is obsessed with Moonlight! And what's the advantage CBS gets from the fact we talk here and on other forums or chat rooms about Moonlight?

welcome back; where have you been? quote: Originally posted by Chimaera: Thanks mushu -- I agree that all 3 shows (WMC, BL, and Eli Stone) should return. BTW, I'm "Chimera" but since I could not remember my old email/password combo, I created a new account as "Chimaera"

Absolutely no advantage whatsoever--but it gives them hope that somehow the online buzz will translate to water cooler buzz, which would then translate to mainstream word of mouth, which would then translate into better ratings. These type of hopes pan out maybe two or three times per decade, but hope springs eternal.

Glad to see you've changed your tone a bit on Reaper Marc. Its a great show that deserves a renewal. quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: I will second that. I doubt the CW will cancel Reaper. quote: Originally posted by supertvfan101: quote: Originally posted by JimmyU: Hopefully, this is enough for Reaper to get renewed.
Reaper is now pulling more viewers than OTH and Gossip Girl and sometimes Supernatural, i say it will get at least a 13 episode pickup

I believe it has a good chance of a 2nd season. The fact that CBS is developing a few different Sci-Fi based dramas may be a sign that it will be coupled with one of those new shows. I would not be surprised if Numbers is moved (say to Tuesdays at 10pm) and Fridays become a "Sci-Fi Fridays" for CBS, with GW, Moonlight and a new Series.
Well that would be a good way to make their Fridays lower rated I guess. While a few of their new pilots sound promising, Moonlight will not be any help to them and I don't think Numb3rs would do much better on Tuesdays. A better option is to put a promising freshman drama Fridays at 9 and save Moonlight for midseason should it fail or one of the other new shows collapse right away.

To put this clinically, Jason Castro's performance last night wasn't just bad -- it was of fecal proportions!

I would like to see just once, and I mean just once, see the other networks program against ML, and see what its ratings are. No one takes into account that there is absolutely nothing on opposite it. It is either ML or cable in that hour. If the other networks ever programmed against ML its ratings would sink. I think ML will get renewed, and if anything is programmed against it the show does not last long next season. quote: Originally posted by Holly: quote: Originally posted by Bruce: quote: Originally posted by Holly: I'm kind of on the fence about Moonlight's renewal. I can see the scenario TV-aholic posits, but I can also see them being reticent to move Numb3rs and just replacing Moonlight with the GW-in-reverse show.
Whatever one thinks of MOONLIGHT's chances of renewal, let's just say it is far more likely to be renewed than NUMB3RS is likely to be moved to Tuesday or anywhere. The "NUMB3RS to tuesday" idea has been out there for a few years now with countless opportunities for CBS to move it and they have passed. I consider it an old idea that never was.
I agree, and that's what's stopping me from thinking that Moonlight will be renewed. It has maintained its audience even after the strike-induced hiatus, it wins its timeslot, the PTB seem to like it, and it has a lot of "buzz" (I know that doesn't translate into ratings, but I think CBS likes having a talked-about show). However, its numbers aren't great, it is the weak link on Friday, and if they think the GW-in-reverse show (what is that called? Meant-to-Be's?) is going to be good, that Friday timeslot is its chance.

I wouldn't call it great. Pace is weird, I don't care much for the characters and it gets a little boring, but it does earn a renewal. I even think they'll give it a full season pickup.

It was up against WMC and Friday Night Lights in the fall and got pretty much the same ratings. Granted, neither of those are powerhouses, but they were regular competition. Does the lack of competition affect the ratings now? Maybe, maybe not. But it's not like it's been against reruns it's entire run.
