I'll help Angie Harmon pack, Marc! Although WMC did a little less pathetically than last time, no doubt its fate is sealed, and it is to join other failures of ABC, Men in Trees and October Road. ABC needs to learn that if they target an adult female audience, less-than-mediocre sentimental crap or a subpar all female sorry-excuse-for-a-procedural is not the way to go. I'm not happy with the declining numbers for SVU. It used to be a major powerhouse for NBC Tuesdays. I hope it bounces back, and soon. Last night's ep was really disappointing too. The lawyer being discovered as a killer than jumping off the roof with her client made this installment an absolute farce.

WMC doesn't fit in the ABC schedule. If they hang on to ES and BL, both borderline shows, they aren't going to add a third borderline show. It's gone.

The Unit deserves to be renewed based on ratings both viewers and 18-49 Shark loses steam and The unit is more consistent up against DWTS and House quote: Originally posted by spotupj: quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: Third in the 9-10 p.m. was CBS’ recently relocated Shark (Viewers: 10.43 million; A18-49: 2.2/ 5), which is performing similarly to former occupant The Unit
Only about 400K less in viewers, but more importantly, the year-ago Unit got a 3.1 (over 40% higher), which was good for full retention in the demo out of NCIS. And it was facing House. If they renew Shark, it will definitely not be because it's doing favorably relative to the year-ago Unit numbers.

Agreed. I don't see these as similar performances. I believe CBS's development would have to fall apart for SHARK to get renewed.

I'm 99% certain it wouldn't show up as an increase in PUT for Tuesday's shows, it would get added onto Monday's numbers in Live+3, +7, etc are calculated.

It wasn't up against House, but it did have DWTS and SVU to contend with. I'd renew it before I'd renew Moonlight which hasn't been pulling 8 million with no competition.

Any shows on cable stand out as destinations or is it just one big watered down universe? BTW, any final numbers for Sunday, Dexter? Douglas/TV-aholic need the two hours separately since it was two different episodes.
I lean towards watered down universe. Never got Sunday's finals.

Actually, Dancing aired in that slot last year and the SVU repeat did worse than the Criminal Intent repeat.

The shows are clearly incompatible. I think if it was returned to Friday nights, it would do some solid numbers though on a night where ABC clearly has nothing going for it. A cancellation here would be foolish. A 13 episode renewal Friday night run would be the correct route to take here and I'm sure it would also boost 20/20's numbers.
I also have to disagree about the mid-season replacement idea. These long lapses between new episodes would be reminiscent of Men In Trees and look where that ended up.
I agree with x. My beef is that it was moved to Tuesdays to begin with when we all knew it was the old folks who were watching from the get go. I know they have a special this Friday but perhaps next week a 2 hour repeat event is in order.

It doesn't matter -- it's not being considered for a post-DWTS timeslot, the discussion is whether it should be renewed, and the answer is not for Angie Harmon to "pack her bags" -- its whether it can help improve ABC's Friday presence, and the answer to that is emphatically YES!! quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: It is losing too much of the DWTS lead-in. quote: Originally posted by Blah26: I don't think the WMC ratings are that bad! It's picked up slightly from last week and has broken into the 2's in the demo! It's certainly performing better than Eli Stone did.
Plus I think WMC can get ratings where ever it is, it's one of very few shows (if any!) that actually hasn't lost any viewers since the writers strike! In fact it's gained some! I'm not giving up hope on this show yet and neither should ABC!!

The fact that it doesn't fit and does bring in some viewers is a reason for ABC to keep it and use it as a resource to prop up Fridays. ABC needs to diversify so they don't become the serialized CBS in which all they have are one type of program. In fact, they basically already have. The same can be said for Eli Stone and Boston Legal. Perhaps the most interesting thing about all of these shows is that ABC has used nothing at times this past year as lead ins for these shows and they still have pretty stable amounts of viewers left.

It's already proven that does fit in the ABC schedule on Fridays. quote: Originally posted by WlcmBlueBloodWorstEnemy: WMC doesn't fit in the ABC schedule. If they hang on to ES and BL, both borderline shows, they aren't going to add a third borderline show. It's gone.

I agree Chimaera. It should return to Fridays next year, just like Boston Legal should return to Tuesdays and since they don't have new stuff ready, Eli Stone could just as well return on Mondays at 10. quote: Originally posted by Chimaera: It doesn't matter -- it's not being considered for a post-DWTS timeslot, the discussion is whether it should be renewed, and the answer is not for Angie Harmon to "pack her bags" -- its whether it can help improve ABC's Friday presence, and the answer to that is emphatically YES!! quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: It is losing too much of the DWTS lead-in. quote: Originally posted by Blah26: I don't think the WMC ratings are that bad!
