Hank was on its way out but I can't imagine comedy repeats are going to help The Middle that much. If ABC really wants to keep it around, I think it should move Mondays at 9:30. It needs a stronger lead in that The Bachelor/DWTS can provide.

ABC’s V dropped 29% To A 3.7 adults 18-49 rating on Tuesday night. That’s the largest % drop from a premiere to a second episode this fall. Even with that big drop, a 3.7 rating is very good. V is still likely to be ABC’s #3 show this week behind Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy, but where it settles is what matters, and that will likely not be known until it returns in the spring. For reference, for ABC scripted dramas the current “danger zone” is below a 2.7 rating.

I guess they feel 4 weeks is enough to see if they have a Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on their hands or not. I can't remember if you think that's a good thing or not.
I liked TSCC, but having a show that preforms like it is a bad thing.
George Lopez was miles ahead of this show. Its strong syndication numbers prove that alone. Jim, on the other hand, was good for a few years, then got terribly repetitive with story lines and overall stupidness. Hank was bad out of the gate.

I don't know if going up against BBT is such a good idea. I do think repeats of the Middle will do no worse than recent Hank ratings. Its likely they'll have enough specials to fill the slot anyway.

Hmm. Somebody better tell mushu that.
That doesn't mean anything. Several programs will be below that and have been below that in the past and will make it to another season.

Understood. And agreed. About the bad thing. I guess I'm kind of finicky when it comes to genre efforts, and particularly those that are just recapping something that's been done before, and better--that's why I'm getting more and more lukewarm about Fringe.
It was a dumb idea to do a Terminator TV show, and it's a dumb idea to remake V to trot out a thinly veiled "Obama is a Nazi Alien" metaphor. If Fox News can afford to run its own scripted drama, let it do so. ABC can't afford the ratings this is going to be getting after a few more eps.

Sure. Like for example, Fringe may make it to another season, but it's still going to go down as a failure in the long run. As will Castle. But at least Fringe USED to get good ratings.
Castle hasn't been a winner in Marc's column ONCE this season. Its current demo average is below the point where ABC wouldn't be thinking seriously about whether it should come back next season. So stop gloating over bad ratings in an easy timeslot, as opposed to worse ratings in a horrible timeslot. And stop pretending I'm still a Fringe fan. I'm over at tvbythenumbers fighting with its defenders now.

How again is V saying that Obama is a Nazi Alien? Because they noted that Americans don't have universal health care and used that as a ploy in their story line to get the people on their sides? I would think that is just doing a good job of relating the story to today's world if anything.

It really makes no sense at all. Most Americans do have healthcare, so they'd just be getting the poor and unemployed and chronically ill Americans--not much of an army--or are they eating them? I haven't been following it that closely. Are sick people a special delicacy for these Visitors?
The original V didn't make much sense either. Too many bells and whistles attached to a very simple story, originally told by Damon Knight, then retold by Rod Serling in The Twilight Zone. "If something seems too good to be true, it probably is." But anybody who looks at the congressional health bill knows that it doesn't look too good to be true. Just better than what we've got now.
I have to agree with you Mushu. I am nowhere close to being an Obama supporter, but I have seen nothing from V that it is pro or con Obama.
I guess some people's panites get in a bundle to easily.

I think every show is based on its own situation and merits. For instance, Castle holds a fair amount of its lead in each week despite not having an overall great number. Fringe cannot say this. It not only has a terrible number overall. It also loses a huge chunk of a lead in that's not all that strong to begin with.
That said, the level of what show is working or failing these days is changing considerably. I would say a 2.0 is ultimately the deciding line for relatively inexpensive newer programs but time slot factors in greatly. If a show had Greys for a lead in and pulled a 2.0- no way. If a show was leading off a night or had Dancing results for a lead in- 2.0 is more iffy. Castle has done the best for ABC behind Dancing in the past two seasons and that's with a weaker Dancing lead in.
