Bionic Woman was a creative disaster, a complete misfire of casting, writing, and overall series direction.
Yeah, they fired the showrunner before it even premiered! Oh wait.....

Even acknowledging that V has a few warts (don't they all) it is off to a much better start creatively than BW.
Personally, I think it's worse, and I hated BW. It had almost precisely the same drop-off. You think it's done dropping?

As far as the unusual break, I don't recall a precedent for this, but on the bright side if a show is any good at all it is kind of hard to jump the shark in 4 eps.
Unless it jumps in the first 4 minutes, like V did.

Unless the ratings tank over the next two weeks, and I predict they will not tank next week,
What did you predict last week?

ABC's commitment to keep the profile of the show high and the type of show it is gives it a good chance to relaunch. This is one case where critic buzz or lack thereof for the next round of eps may be crucial when the time comes.
Wanna bet?
V at least has something of a focused storyline going, BW did not. And would you class V as a "complete misfire of casting, writing, and overall series direction"?
I don't think the drop from the premiere was a jump the shark. Jump the curious shark, maybe? The fact that it grew at the half hour in week 1 and was stable at the half hour this time does not suggest a jump the shark in the first several minutes.
What did I predict last week? "Wouldn't be surprised if there were substantial drops over the next few weeks." That was said in the context of my conclusion that the show was not going to be a major tv event that would grow and not that there was going to some flameout, and the "over the next few weeks" was meant to encompass a range of possibilities such as a big drop from the premiere and then stabilization. No half hour drops in ep 2 is the beginning of "stabilization."

I at least offered something other than personal opinions, you did not.

I would class V as "Too boring to watch for more than five minutes as a time." Take that as you will.

I don't think ratings drops mean exactly the same thing as sharkjumping, but clearly the 29% of people who didn't come back after the premiere could hear Fonzie's motorcycle warming up in the background.

Yeah, but I was the one who pointed out Bionic Woman got even higher ratings, went UP in audience during its premiere, and fell 30% the following week. And like it or not, that's the model V is following. And it's not evident to most people that this is any better. Hey, at least Bionic Woman had Katee Sackhoff some weeks.

So you're predicting the ratings will not fall significantly from now on. Duly noted.
